Default window tint update

picked up the 2018 Turbo, window tint 35%
Came out nice
however the installer (dealer) was not able to install the moleskin felt (He said it would not stick)
Now I'm afraid to open my windows
The tint protector people said thats not possible -their glue is super strong...
Any ideas?

He said he would look into it. Thanks to all for the feedback, I will post pics next week if I get it done.
Was 30% OK? should I get the max (for IL) 35%?

I had my 2017 Panamera tinted with felt. Cost about $500. Have had it for about 2 weeks with no issues with scratches.

there is a specific sequence of prepping, cleaning, and installing the felt piece to the Panamera window gaskets. Margin of error is small because if you have any edge of the mole skin adhesive backing exposed, the job is toast and you start all over again. Take it to a shop that specializes in Panameras...not many know how to do them right. You’ll pay a premium, but job will be done right the first time.

Also, find a tint with a durable top coat...we use Huper Optik and haven’t had any issues.

I'm curious what the inside scratches look like on cars with problems.

On my Cayman I had a line inside but it wasn't that bad. My installer hadn't heard of this issue on on Panameras. He's done 8 of my cars flawlessly in the past and pretty high end stuff around here, surprised he didn't know of this.

i got my 2017 panamera with the insulated glass done by the dealer’s tint guy. He said he didn’t have space for felt due to the thicker glass. He did it the regular way and no scratches in 3 months

i didn’t have scratches until I put the windows down on a 90 degree day when everything was “expanded” and got torched with scratches....

I found the post from Tmoose to be interesting because I just picked up my sport turismo from Chicago auto pros in Glen Ellyn (sister shop to Glenview) who couldn't do the tint and knew nothing about the felt. It will be headed to the dealer for install in the next few days. It's been quite frustrating really

Spoke to 2 local guys that are the "go to guys" in our area. One did a Panamera and didn't use moleskin (friend, still in good condition) and the other knew of it but said he has a couple fixes that might work.

He's done 8 of my cars and does really good work, doing my car on the 26th and I'll report back with ideas he has. Seems I'll tint for now and not roll my windows down for a while as I research places to have the felt done or do it myself. It pains me to pull doors on a new car...

Spectra Photosync 35 all the way around

I have had the spectra photo sync 35 for a little over a month. The shop I had it done put moleskin on the front doors and so far no scratching!

i would call your local P dealer. Here, I had a P tech pull the doors and the tint minions couldnt screw it up.

More $$ sure, but no problems going forward.
