Had an E90 335i, it was RWD and did fine with Blizzaks in North Idaho as a DD. Problem is turbos leaked at 58k, aux water pump and high pressure fuel pump also died before the turbo issue. Oh and a VANOS solenoid. Drove awesome, but wouldn't own another outside of warranty protection.

individual throttle bodies or single throttle..an n/a 5.0 v8 is going to have great response regardless. and while I love those cars too...a little too high maintenance for a daily at this point imho..unless you are looking for a daily driver project.

sti with bolt ons is a pure riot of a daily driver.

Fiat 500 Abarth.

Seriously, it's unbelievably fun to drive despitr it being only 160hp. I absolutely adore mine. On Panorama they said a few 991 owners tried it as a winter beater and ended up selling the 991.

I'm in MD, but I came across the ad on FB. Usually some good deals pop up from time to time on FB.

No, because I have a 996tt which kicks a 991.1's *** any time.

Golf R...Mk6 or Mk7

Just sold my 2013 with 48k miles and Stage 1 tune (315hp) for $22k because I DD my 996TT and SC Targa but it was a great car, especially in 4-door guise (with a dog).

It looks like some of you are interested in the E55. I had mine for about 4 years and put on maybe 10k on it. I kept her stock and the car was very reliable. I got the records from the previous owner and in reviewing them, he had the fuel pumps replaced under recall. A few years later, I replaced them as well. That would be the only weak point.

However, please understand the problem with the fuel pumps were that they would leak. One time I filled up gas and went out with some friends. I left the car on the road and we met up and went bar hopping. Everytime I walked by my car, there was a smell of gas on the road. Drove home and parked the car on the road as I didn't want it in my garage. Had the car towed to the dealer for fuel pump replacement. The fuel pumps are located under the rear seat and my car even had a burnt or melted harness. Your car will be filled with gas fumes when it leaks as the fuel sometimes pools at the top of the pump.

If you like to mod, 600hp is quite easy to achieve. If you want to lower the car, find someone with a STAR system, and they can slam the car for you as it is all electronics.

Gotta say, 911mhawk's 996TT is cranking out something north of 650HP, so there are few things that are going to not feel a little "off that pace"...

That said, when I was musing about what type of car to buy, I drove a fair number of e46 M3 and MRoadster examples, and while not torque monsters, they were fun to drive (just different). I thought they had the most "Italian" engines I had ever seen in a German car. The e90s were faster of course, but heart-stoppingly thirsty and to me the engines did not have the zip of the earlier cars.

All the supercharged AMGs had the "big hammer" feel of the 996TT, but I was put-off by the (general) lack of manual trans options.

In both cases, I also had the feeling in the pit of my gut that they would be more expensive to keep them running than a 996TT.

With the e92 M3 if you have to rev the crap out of it to feel any kind of power. Which is kind of fun, but taking it to the 8300 redline seems to take forever and by then you're way over the speed limit. Fun cars though, I could daily one.

I drive to Seattle daily(have been for 10yrs), own 1 car at a time, and DD it (40 miles/day)
- had a '08 Audi S6. Didn't care for it
- had a '07 BMW 550i. Loved this car to pieces.
- went into a '13 e92 DCT M3 from the 550. Noticed immediate drop in torque/pull. This car needs to be revved to get it going. Once you accept that, it is a lot of fun and the NA V8 sounds as exotic as they come, especially with the right exhaust. Thought on getting it setup with an SC kit to get some torque going. Decided to switch brands instead
- Now into a turbo. Love the car! The only thing I miss is the sound of the M3... Don't care about mileage. I've had it for 1.5yrs and put 20K miles on it so far. I plan to keep it just as much as feasible and drive as much as possible.

If I had to pick a second car at this time, I'd go for the NA V8 - either a Mustang GT or Camaro since you can get them with a manual. Probably Camaro to be honest - i drove a 350GT and didn't quite feel it.
That being said, why not drive your turbo?

This was exactly my thought after driving another paddle/DCT one, I drove a stick last week too. For a daily, I want some instant go when I nail the throttle, don't want to have to rev it to 6k+ every time I want to move. When you nail it from a stop, the e92 feels slower than my 540 6sp with a LSD and lower gears.
I know the new M3 is faster, but around town at slower speeds, not really.
