Indeed joking. But everyone needs to chill. This is isn't Porsche. Ford will make as many as they think they can sell and then some. Just relax and enjoy the show for now.
If you're really bored go back and read this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...port-park.html

Just as with other "special" models, I don't see Ford making as many as everyone wants in the 350R. Just don't see it happening. I totally disagree.
I was offered the first 2016 non R by my dealer at MSRP but passed for the R. I should have bought it and flipped it but didn't.
The R is worth the money simply because it is harder to get, expensive wheels, and for the moment the only way to get the track and technology pack together, as well as the unbelievable exhaust on the R.
I just bought a 991 GTS this weekend because it may be a while for the R, but I am definitely picking one up if offered. It will be a wonderful DD if nothing else.

I would much rather have a 2016 991gt3 than a 2014.

Relax is probably the best advice when it comes to car buying. Always been better to sit back and watch the market cool down and let the "beta" testers figure out all the little fixes that comes with a new car. Wonder how many gremlins this new flat crank engine will have?

I had blast at Sebring this past Saturday with mine... first time with it there. Granted I ran in the 400-500 grp plus there was track traffic, the car is really dialed in and I can't wait to mount stickier tires on lighter wheels. My instructor kept repeating how much he likes it, and it's a natural on the track, and that it feels like a GT3. And this car is more fun to hoon in than my Z06.
Awesome man - Sebring is no joke.
I did my first track day with the GT350 today at NOLA Motorsport - so much fun.

Agreed on production - I don't see Ford mass producing this car. The Boss 302 and Ford GT both saw limited 2 year runs, rumor is this will be similar. I'm sure the motor will not go away though.

The exhaust on the GT350R is the exact same as the GT350. The R is louder because Ford left out the resonators. If you want the louder sound just remove them - takes 20 minutes.

If you get the GT350 throw out the tires for the track- you're going to want some good R compounds - I had better grip in my Boss Laguna Seca with Corsa R tires - the MPSS were not nearly strong enough for the Shelby's brilliant suspension/power. Also be sure to take off all the nannies - way too intrusive. Other than that the car is a gem - brakes hide the weight and handling is superb - corner exits really impressed me - you can hammer that power early out that apex. Highly entertaining.
