Watch this dude destro....errr I mean, PAINT his Audi!
So....I'm seriously thinking about this on my multicolor 944.
I plan on painting my car the "proper" way, when I get the money, but this looks like a cheap way of making my car all one color. Then I can just peel it off when I'm ready to paint it for real.
Good idea?
I don't know if I should invest in the "kit", or just get a couple cases of bomb-cans and spray it.

There's a plastidip thread here if you didn't know.

Vinyl is definitely not cheaper than plastidip. Using good quality vinyl can cost you as much as professional paint and getting someone else to apply it will cost you as much as a really nice paint job.
Plastidip is great because you can peel it off, but that's about it.

I can't imagine the mess he left behind on his driveway, and wonder how he's ever going to clean-up the overspray in the wheel wells, or behind the air inlets at the front of the car.
Considering the pain caused by the overspray, vinyl would have been the better, cleaner solution.

I've wrapped a couple cars in vinyl myself. I was a bit skeptical when this video started, but I have to say the end result was better than I expected. It really probably comes down to what condition you're starting with. If you're just trying to give an old daily driver or track rat a consistent color for cheap, this is probably fine. Not sure I would have done that to a brand new car though. And yeah, the preparation could have been a bit more thorough.
