I had a Mustang II for a year. Same underpinnings but better interior. It could keep up with a VW Bus going uphill, but just barely. After a year I had enough (it also had recurrent electrical problems) and traded it in.

I had a 73 pinto in high school. I hated that car and still do, but I had a friend with a runabout whose father built into a pretty fast street racer. He built up the original 4 banger with a cam, higher compression, headers, weber carbs and a posi rear end.
