Death wobble is something I've never really experienced and keep hearing different thoughts on it. The side I tend to lean towards are those who say it's really caused by something not being quite right w/ the setup... something loose, out of alignment, etc. so a new stabilizer doesn't actually fix it, but eliminates the symptom.
Not sure... I know folks who've chased it like crazy and never found 'the problem', so perhaps not.
What is your setup if you don't mind me asking?

Death wobble has actually happened on my '09 Ram 2500 4x4 and my research points more towards the castor and not anything mechanical in the front suspension - everything checked out to spec.
I agree with Patrick that the steering stabilizer is more like a band-aid but it's also a good upgrade to have in place on a lifted truck. My FSB has one since death wobble is common on them, too, but each setup is different just as each truck may or may not experience it, if ever.

My setup is stock with just 265/75 tires on it. The garage I park it in has a low overhead, So put a little snow on the ground, And I cant pull it in if I go much higher. I have been running these tires for two years now, And have not had any issues (18,000 miles). I have a appointment today to check the tire balance / alignment. I have heard some stories about how crapy the ball joints are, so while they have it up im going to look at them.

I have a Warn XD 9000i. bought it used and installed it on my TJ. Took it back off when I sold it so it's just gathering dust in the garage now.

You got it! It looks a bit dorky right now with the big a$$ bumpers still sitting on the stock wheels and mostly street tires. After the first of the year, we're going for enough of a lift to clear 35s on some new black wheels and regearing to 5.13. That should put it in just the right proportions and make it very capable for what I'd ever want/need to do offroad.
