Jeep: New bumpers for the Jeep
I ordered some new bumpers for my JK. Found a really nice design made by a guy in Canada and being sold for a really good price. Wasn't planning on buying until next year, but he's getting out of the business, so I pulled the trigger early.
Anyway... they came in today. Now I have to prep/paint them and install. I think I'm going to do a base coat of Rocker Guard "paint", then cover them with matte black. http://reutterwerk.com/forums/pictur...pictureid=1618 |
Here are the bumpers installed on the builder's jeep.

Nice and beefy...
Still running the factory bumpers on my YJ. |
Look stout. Mounts for a wench?
|
I like them both, they're very stout. How much would it cost to have them powdercoated?
BTW, does he specialize in just Jeeps or have bumpers for other vehicles like FSB's? |
I'm going to guess powder coating would run $150 - 200 or so. If my finish doesn't come out good enough, I'll have them sand blasted and coated. I'd prefer my own finish so I can touch up more easily when they get dinked up offroad.
yep. there are mounts for a winch on the front bumper. He forgot to include my winch plate so I could put the roller fairlead on, but it'll take me a bit to get them finished. derek... VERY stout. All together the two bumpers is about 200 lbs I'd guess. Add the winch and they will be approaching 270 or so. |
Black wrinkle finish powdercoat would be bad to da bone.

Blast, POR15 and top coat
|
The bumpers I had on my cj didn't have as much flat area, but I primed them and did the roll-on bed liner material. It was durable and easy to touch up from light off road damage
|
Very clean design.

Thanks Andreas. It's one of the few designs I thought went well w/ the lines of the new Jeep.
My rear tire carrier is the first he made that opens w/ the tailgate. The model shown installed on the green Jeep above has a separate latch mechanism, so to get into the back of the Jeep you have to open the tire carrier, then the back door. I really wanted one integrated and he figured out a pretty slick design for it. |
Rear is finished.. don't have the tire carrier done yet.
