very true about the seats.. those are the first things to come out...
for all those mods I mentioned above I was talking about a race car/serious TT car...
For a DE car:
Replace Seats with Sparco
Upgrade brakes to stoptech (brakes are the Achilles heel of theses Z06)
have fun
the rest is just icing on the cake if you want to race and be competitive or have a bad *** track car

He is going to drive it Sebring for the chin event later this month just to watch
Maybe he will come to his senses
It isn't like it will hold it's value

When I was looking for a track car to replace the Elise, I figured I would end up with a Boxster, but heard way more stories of Boxster engine issues among my track friends than Z06 issues. That's one of the reasons I bought the Z06 instead. I don't think there is a car make out there that hasn't had some engine issues in DE applications, but I heard way more "boom" stories from Boxster owners than Vette owners.

Personally - I wouldn't recommend a Z06. Ideally I would say get a miata or S2000 but I doubt his ego could take that. Therefore I would say go with a 2009 Grand sport(why buy new if you are going to abuse it at the track). 430 HP and a Z51 suspension is perfect for a DE car. All he needs is harnesses, seats and harness bar.

No offense but I not recommend a race car to a guy who thinks that detailing a car is the purpose of owning a real sports car.

Although he should start with the miata route or used spec boxster etc.. he wont...

If your friend is really looking for a vette, you can pm Mike K. A good client of his has one that looks just like the one posted from switchcar from the outside but maybe a little less from the inside. It does have a cage and all. Actually 2 of his clients have monster vette with lots of coins in them.

Hilarious and yet... factual at the same time.
I had high hopes for my 2006 Z06.
Sold it after only 1200 miles and got back into the much slower, much better 997 C2S.
Keep trying GM. I'll keep hoping.
