1979 911 .Finally got the car to crank over. My friend try run the old fuel out of the system. Gas came out of the pipe and finally started. The problem is we think there is too much gas being shot out. We are trying to see what to do to keep the car running. Kept the foot to the floor and would start after about 10-15 seconds, sometimnes longer. Reved the engine to under 4000 rpm to keep car running but would shut off after about 11-15 seconds. Will try a pressure test and my friend was going to check the cold start. Will change oil after we get the car running.

Any help would be a appreciated.

Had mechanic come over and wiggled the relay and heard the pump working. It was turning and than locked up on us. Were going to remove the sparks plugs today to release the gas and turn it by hand. Any advice would be great. 1979 911 fuel pump and relay problem

Please send me your email. I'm new to this board but use the same handle on 914world and the bird. Longtime 914 owner (since '87), past 944, currently have a 1970 914-6, the '78 911SC, a hoard of 4 banger 914 cars, 914-6 GT tribute project, 718RSK project, and a Ghia. Didn't make it to the classic (not super fond of water pumpers) but hope to make it to Randy's.

Hope all is well. Was thinking of you the other day when perusing Samba.com

    theiceman,
Is there any chance you still have the pictures for dissecting the dimmer/flasher switch? I've seen the pictures on the pelican thread but it looks like rennlist removed your photos. Since your post goes into detail about repairing the switch, I'd really like to follow it. Here's the link to your original post:

If you want to email instead of repost, here's my email: cgates30@yahoo.com

    Thanks!
    Craig
