You can probably buy the one from the 992, and most online parts places have the parts drawings, such as Delaware Porsche Parts, where I buy most of my parts from: https://www.delawareporscheparts.com/

If you cannot find it message them.

The airbag from the 992 is different Bob.

The one to buy is the GT4 RS one that comes with the black trim ring.

I wondered, sorry. But I knew they started to use a Black trim ring on the airbag with the 992s. Needless to say, as I said, always verify part fitment with the part departments (and not me).

Do you have a black 991.2 airbag trim ring available?

Ok, thanks for letting me know.

Wonder if anyone has tried to mask and paint the ring while on the airbag?

I will add you to my list but I need at least 35 people that are interested and you are only #5 so it will probably be a long time.

I am not sure I would try to paint it since you would see brush marks, and you cannot remove it without destroying it.

Was thinking more like masking then spraying it with satin black spray paint or plastidip.

I get the airbag in a week or so, will def be able to tell of its possible then.

Let me know if 25 more people step up. Thanks for doing this!

Come to think of it someone did try Plasti-dip, but I think he said it peeled off. Maybe he did not clean it well first though. And yes, when I get 30 more I will be able to get more since I need 35 to place an order and it is too expensive for me to take a chance another time.

Default Crest

Looks awesome! How do you paint crest without covering horse as is not raised above or cutout from shield?

Carrera East Studios - cost will vary. There are a couple threads on the topic in the 718 and 991 Forums - search on Crest. It took about 1 1/2 years to get mine and I am still waiting on a replacement, and others have waited longer so be prepared.

EDIT: the ring is sold as of Feb 21 2023 - thanks for all the interest
I have a ring for sale if anyone’s interested - taken off an OEM airbag cover. Granted the tabs are shorter given they had to be dremeled from the backside of the cover (plastic weld seems to be the OEM assembly method) but should not have any effect on installation.

Correct, and I suggest using some clear silicon adhesive when installing it again. And congrats on taking apart the airbag...I could not gather the nerve or patience to do so.
