Update: I'm down in Munich and Porsche said that their service center here is more than capable of working on this for me. So I'll be taking it to them tomorrow, and they are giving me a 911 Cab to drive while it's in the shop. Making matters even more frustrating is the fact that an idiot blindly backed his van into me at an autobahn rest stop during my drive down here. The 2" projectile hinge on the back door of his van gouged and scraped the side of my bumper and unfortunately also got about 1/8" into the rear quarter panel. Seriously, starting to wonder of this is just one of those "bad luck cars." Anyway, they'll also repair the damage while they have it.

Well I guess I have one positive thing to report. The idiot who backed into me... His hinge was largely undamaged. lucky him.

Glad to see you are giving Porsche a chance to fix it. Hopefully it is not like Nick Murray's 911 was were it never got fixed. Sorry to see the other bit of bad luck, so since Porsche factory is going to fix that also, it should never show up in history???
I really hope all works out.. Please keep us updated..

Glad to hear that Porsche will take car of both issues. At least when you get it home, you'll forget about all this and have an awesome car!

Hope so... Some of the emotion of the situation has passed, so I'm really trying to make this all work!

Jeeeeeeez!!! Wonder what else is in store for you. May the force be with you.

P.S. I'm starting to not regret that I didn't do ED.

You guys will never guess how much it's going to cost to fix this here in Germany....

Are you ready??

$4,350!! Unbelievable.

They told me to do it here, and not in the US, because if we do it in the US, the guy's insurance company may dispute the repair amount.

Well I guess things cost more here now because 50 cents on the dollar are going down to Greece.

This would cost the same here if the work was done here by a top quality shop. This will require a new bumper cover and a new quarter panel. To blend they will repaint at least 1/3 of the car if not half of it.

As to brakes, how many miles on the pads when you had the unfortunate experience? I wonder if the were still new and not bedded in.

Pads had less than 50 miles on this when it happened... Yes, that's what Porsche is telling me as well...

repairs at factory is a bonus.
Since insurance is paying for it, not all bad.

Go out and pound on that cabrio!

Pounded the Cabrio today... Entered the autobahn onramp with an Audi RS wagon ahead of me. He nailed it, and we drag raced all the way to 240 kph... I couldn't catch him!! I thought a C4 GTS was faster... Must be heavy due to being a Cabrio.... Seriously missing my GT3!!
