Macan Flat6 airbox and filter mod
Hello, new to the Macan, long time Rennlist member.
Just picked up a 2023 Macan T. Anyone have real world experience with the Flat6 airbox and filter? They claim it adds power and have dyno charts listed, but it's for the S or GTS version, can't remember which. If I get better throttle response like some reviewers claim, I'd be happy with just that.
Any reviews on any other air box/filters would also be appreciated.
TIA

I had it for a few weeks on my tuned 2.0 and then removed it. There was no perceptible performance benefit for more power or response, only more turbo induction noise that wasn't a positive improvement.
I decided it wasn't worth the hassle to remove and replace for each dealer visit (warranty concerns) and never looked back after I removed it. The OE design and filter unit is more than sufficient.

Forget an airbox. If you want more power simply plug the JB1 version of this piggyback tuner box into your vehicle and enjoy ~50 more HP and Torque.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same, having to swap back and forth, though that may only be once a year barring any other unforeseen circumstances. I also considered just doing the filter itself, maintaining the stock box. A lot of people do their own motorsport mod to the 993 airboxes. On the Macan it should be cheap enough to just buy the top portion and cut that partition out.
I have had aftermarket filters on just about all of my vehicles, foreign and domestic, either BMC or K&N, what attracted me to the Flat6 was no oiling and increased surface area. The actual dyno runs showing improvements was confidence building. But those were on the S so I know results on the base may not be the same. It all depends on the engine engineering, on some cars the filters may give 1 or 2 HP, on others it may actually take away HP.
Any other ideas?

Look at post number 3.

Three Wheelin'
IMHO, not worth $400+. The only real benefit in real life may be a +/-5 bump in hp and a bit more air induction sound. However, I don't see how the instillation of this filter would affect the warranty after all, I believe BMC high flow filters are OEM on Porsche GT cars.

I'm surprised that nobody has brought up the throttle controllers, like the Pedal Commander, Roar Pedal, etc. The OP is concerned about throttle response and these devices resolve that complaint. I've driven several base Macans and of course the 2022 S that I own. In factory trim they all have slow, non-linear throttle response. I installed a PC on mine and it transformed the performance of the motor. Of course, it doesn't create any more power but you forget about that when the throttle responds instantly.

Carlos, I didn't see your post, you must have posted it while I was typing. I looked that up, doesn't list the latest generation Macan. I will be contacting them as I'm thinking they must be working on a newer version.
Nevil, I will look into the PC for sure! That is my complaint, once power is on it's fine, but there does seem to be a delay initially.

Thanks BM. At first glance I think I like the fact that the PC doesn't loop in through the ECM like the JB product. Maybe after warranty is up?

The pedal command is weak tea compared to the JB1/4 piggyback tune. With the JB unit there's no concern with warranty issues because you can simply unplug and remove it when the car goes in for service. There is no way the dealer can tell it has been installed on the car. It is the perfect add on for a base Macan. It is the power levels the car should have come from the factory with.

I have them on my 2018 GTS and there is no real world discernable difference aside from some extra induction noise. I don't doubt their dyno charts but my butt dyno felt no difference. The main reason I installed them was because I got them second hand at a large discount and they eliminate the need to throw away dirty filters as these are clean in a bucket of soapy water and reuse.
As for warranty concerns, I've had engine oil leak repairs covered under warranty and my service advisor specifically said they are of no concern to be left in place when I asked him. YMMV.

I don't think that is true. I have read on several other sites that the increased peak pressures and revs (or whatever) caused by the JB1/4 are recorded and can be detected by the dealership, potentially voiding the warranty. That is the only reason I don't install one.
