Default Dash cam add on?

Have a 2024 gts on order and didnt opt for the prewired dash cam ( thinking it may have been a mistake) but too late now.
Any recomendations for an aftermarket dash cam?

The FitcamX camera system has specifications and features almost identical to the Porsche camera system, except it appears integrated to the vehicle instead of the appearance of an ugly aftermarket add-on. The cost is a fraction of the Porsche system. The optional low cost power cord makes installation sooo much easier AND adds the parked vehicle automatic impact recording.

I looked at that and it appears you don’t need the porsche prewire to power it. Did I see that correctly?

Correct, no optional Porsche prewire kit required.

The standard FittcamX camera kit includes the wye cable that requires removal of the super difficult to remove / replace overhead console lamp. That standard connection also doesn't include the automatic parking monitor.

The optional low-cost FitcamX direct wire power cord permits the "easy" power connection to the driver's side fuse panel, plus also supports the automatic parking impact monitor.

Note DO NOT disconnect the connector for the small airbag display circuit board near the rear view mirror, or that action will cause the dashboard airbag idiot light to remain permanently latched on, requiring a dealership service to turn off.

This may not be what you're looking for but just want to share as an option.
I alway have a radar in my car but didn't want to add another hardware to make windshield too busy so I bought Escort Maxcam 360C and overall happy with it.
Have one in 911 and another in Macan.

This reply shows stacking my FitcamX camera system above my Escort Redline 360c radar detector.

I already have an old Viofo 119 hardwired to my right hand fuse panel. Very simple install. I would be interested in the Fitcam using a similar install, but I am unclear how the optional power cord exits the housing and travels to the windshield/headliner gap. Also, the Fitcam appears to not have any GPS capability, which could be a deal breaker. Any thoughts? TIA.

The FitcamX front (and rear) camera has a ~1' pigtail cord. The front camera has two pigtail cords, one for power, the other for the rear camera. Those front camera pigtail cords each exit the housing to the rear, fully concealed by that FitcamX camera housing, then fully concealed by the Porsche snap on shroud immediately adjacent to the camera shroud.

The front camera power pigtail either connects to the standard wye power cable, drawing operational power from the overhead dome lamp connector, or connects to the long, optional, direct wire fuse panel power cord, to get BOTH +12VDC continuous and +12VDC switched DC power, to also provide parked impact monitoring.

Running the optional direct wire DC power cord is MUCH easier than the standard dome lamp wye cable, because that difficult to remove / replace dome lamp doesn't need to be touched. Just remove and discard the existing mirror shroud, remove then replace the adjacent snap on windshield shroud, then tuck the optional power cord along the windshield, then into the driver's side fuse panel.

There is ZERO GPS capability on the FitcamX camera system. As such the video and still images do not include location, direction and velocity watermarks, just date and time watermarks.

I have the escort 360 without the camera so agree on trying to cut down on the clutter. I had mine of the first 360c and returned it. didnt think the radar function worked as well. May be improved by now.

thanks but may be too much bulk with the radar detector on the windshield.

I spoke with the manager of the service department at my local Porsche Dealership. He advised against getting the option, Preparation for Dash Cam
Did you know it only provides a holder for the front window, not the back . He said that installing the dash cams is over seven hours and that would be
a heavy hit at the dealership. Further, the purchase of the dash cams and the additional wiring and electronics would be cost prohibitive.
He recommends, instead, to take my ordered Macan GTS to a high end after market installer.

Seems things are changing quickly. The configurator currently shows the pre-wire option as both front and back.

And there's a $453 option in the Audio and Communications Accessories section to add Porsche dashcams, both front and rear, with GPS capability. The note says the GPS may not work well if you have noise and heat protection glazing or heated windshield.
