When you try to activate my Porsche / Porsche connect on your phone it forces you to allow My Porsche to always have access to your location in the iPhone locations settings.
Also, there is a check box in Porsche PCM setup in your car that requires you to allow Porsche to collect all your data for product improvement. If you do not allow that they do not connect PCM services like real time traffic and internet streaming in your car.
and you are paying them for this service after the intro. Nice. And it does not work most of the time anyhow.
Thanks for the info about having to pay for the service after intro. Save me the trouble of trying to figure out how to make it connect. As a senior on a fixed income, I am doing everything I can to not incur any further expenses.
Here is the official answer from Porsche. Not going to help us much is it? This guy works for Porsche USA and does not even understand that ATT handles this in the USA not Vodafone.
Thank you for contacting Porsche Cars North America.
Regarding your vehicle remote services, your 2023 Macan T would have to be serviced at your local Dealership after receiving your Vodafone installation code which can be found by creating an account on website found below & adding your Macan to your profile.
Thank you for contacting Porsche Connect if you have any further inquiry please feel free to call us at 1-800-PORSCHE (1-800-767-7243) where we'd be happy to assist, again Congratulations on your New Macan and welcome to the Porsche Family!
I believe both AT&T and Vodafone handle it, depending on the Porsche model. In my case, Vodafone is the company who sent me my activation code, which I took to the dealer for activation, which was unsuccessful.
Similar story here. I picked up my '23 GTS on 12/31 - the dealership rushed through the PDI process as it had arrived the day before and they wanted to get it delivered before the end of year, and never activated Car Connect. I brought it back a few weeks later to get Car Connect activated and after almost an hour, the SA told me they were unable to get it activated. Being familiar with the My Porsche app I wasn't overly anxious about getting it activated and left it that they could try again at my 10k service which it goes in for in a few weeks...we'll see what happens then.
Just had my '23 in for its 10k service and they were able to activate Car Connect.

Have you read the terms and conditions? If you activate "Voice Pilot", all conversations are recorded at all times (not just when saying commands).
I finally got my Car Connect (by Vodafone) installation completed, after 7 months and many attempts by the dealer.
The problem was hardware related. A newer Communication Module (PVTS) and updated software did the trick.
question when you got your newer module replaced - did they have to disconnect the battery, my sound system covers the battery and the last thing I want is some tech mucking around with the back of the car and damaging it.
This thread isn't encouraging. I have an appointment for Monday to get mine done at the dealer and they told me over the phone, that they had been having problems with this.

ahh I probably would have asked. No real way to tell other than that -- I'm worried because i'm taking my car in tomorrow to do the same thing. I'll ask the sales rep, if they have to then i might not do it because my sound system is custom and sits on top of the battery.
Appreciate you replying though =)

Please update here, I take mine in for the same thing on Monday.
The real fun starts after this expires. I didn't see any value after the free period ended, so I let it lapse. Then I started getting this dialog box repeatedly popping up on the PCM (like several times an hour). Whenever this happened, it would nuke my connection to CarPlay, sometimes to the extent that I had to pull over and shut off the Macan (2021) to get it to connect again.
I mentioned this when I took it in for the annual oil change in December and the service guys hadn't seen that behavior before. They supposedly reset the PCM. Since then, I've seen this dialog come up in isolated cases, but haven't taken that many long trips lately, so time will tell if this behavior has truly been corrected. And thanks, Porsche, for these unavoidable nag screens.

I get that message on my 2022 Macan every time it starts. I go in Monday for the Connect activation (I hope).
