Default Any one else have clunky 22 gts pdk

My trans seems pretty clunky shifting from 1-2 when cars cold in sport. It gets better warmed up but still seems a bit off. I’m the second owner. Bought it with 2000 miles now has 10000. Any body else have this.

thanks

Yes. Our 22 GTS shifts hard from 1-2 pretty much all the time. I have not brought it up w/ the dealer. I assumed it's normal, but maybe not. We also just passed 10K miles, no change. Not worse but not better with break in.

If you drive in Sport+ or Manual (paddle) shift mode it's a lot better. I think it's that it shifts at very low RPM but the turbos are spooled and it's making a lot of torque at that moment. If you get up in the rev range it is much smoother.

The PDK does not have a torque converter but uses actual clutches. So, it will never be quite as smooth as the old "slush boxes". Also, the quality of the shifts depends on the mode you're in as well as your driving style.
I'd say what you're experiencing would be considered normal operation.

Agree. A little bit of a learning curve, but that 1st to 2nd can kick hard if you're not careful. lol

Yea we have had dct’s with most our Audis. This one is by far the more clunky. Especially at rolling stops. I just figured the guy before me drove the living **** out of it. Lol. Is there a launch counter somewhere? We had one on our rs3. I’m pretty sure I could get that report from the dealer.

Agree with all the posts. I would just add that I notice it more in the cold weather here in Vermont. Probably just the fluid cooling the clutches, and the clutch material, are cold. Definitely improves quickly as the drivetrain warms up.
