Dealership Quote for Wheel Alignment - $2,000
My local dealership is suggesting a 4-wheel alignment for my 2017 Macan S at approximately $2,000. Am I crazy, or is this like five to six times more expensive than it should be?

Like my inquiry about PDK fluid change for the 40k service.$1,100.
I did everything else, just the fluid change.
Fluid and filter cost me $250. I am guessing flat rate is 1.5 hours.
Really?

That has to be an error. Literally only front toe is adjustable. Unless they are doing body-shop type subframe realignment work for a major problem, which might cost that much.
Or maybe they hate doing alignments so they just quote super high so you'll go somewhere else.

My dealer charges $300 to align cars with camera based driver's aid systems that may require calibration which goes for most Macans.

Final thought... First vision that ran through my head was sports guy Chris Berman yelling "Come on, man!". To you and to anyone else reading this, my NEW (23 miles on it) 2018 Turbo was way way out alignment from the dealership. Blew threw the first set of Conti6's in less than 9K. And I wasn't terrorizing anyone on the roads... Over the years I've learned to always have my alignment checked every time I slap on a new set of tires. A bill for $300 is IMO way less expensive than replace good tires halfway through the mileage you should get.

I just put on a new set of Michelin Latitude Tour HP tires on my 2018 Macan GTS. They also did an alignment. Total cost, including 7% tax was $1,974.77. This was by an Independent high end import auto service shop in Florida. They use some fancy laser electronic alignment machine and road balance the tires as well. I got 45K miles on the original Pirelli Verde tires and they were not showing any uneven wear due to alignment issues but the shop said the right front alignment was out of spec. The alignment charge on my invoice was $175.00.
Interestingly, they said that the alignment changes when you put the car in Sport or Sport+ modes and asked what mode I drove in most often. I told them I try to leave in in Sport mode whenever possible to keep the louvers open because the oil temp runs 15-20 degrees cooler. So, they set up the alignment optimized for Sport mode.

As a data point for you I just had a full alignment done to my new-to-me 2015 Macan S and the dealer charged me $630 which seemed high. Something is very wrong at $2,000!

I took my 993 wheels (off the car) and new tires in to the the local dealer to be mounted and they charged me $334. Ironically the dealer is Autohaus like in that pic you posted. The positive is they didn't damage them.

Found this thread after wondering if my new Macan needed an alignment as it wandered a little and had a dead spot when tracking in a straight line (Michelin Latitude M+S). Took it to my local tire guy who checked all four tires and adjusted the toe in, problem solved. The difference is remarkable for such a small tweak. Oh, he said it didn't take long so there would be no charge. Probably not getting that at any dealership.
