Pirelli Scorpion Winter or Michelin Alpin 5 SUV?
I am going to buy a winter tire and wheel set for my '23 Macan GTS and the package I am looking at is offered with my choice of Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires or Michelin Alpin 5 SUV tires. The tire sizing on the winter wheel/tire setup is 265/45/20 and 295/40/20. I will not really be driving the GTS in the snow unless I get caught out unexpectedly, but I do live in DC and it can get cold here in the winter (in the low 20s or teens sometimes, but it doesn't drop below 20 very often and usually stays around freezing in January/February). I wanted winter tires/wheels because I ordered the car with summer tires and I don't know if those are going to do the job when it gets cold. Which tires do folks think I should choose and can anyone confirm that the 20 inch setup works on the Gen III GTS (i.e., '22 and '23 model years)?

you could also go smaller rim size for a higher sidewall in case the roads get real messy. 19" rim size was also an option on the configurator. I picked up a set of winter tires from the dealer at end of winter marked down 20% (one of the few things nowadays marked down from MSRP) 235/55 R19 fronts, 255/50 R19 rears.
Ive had Pirelli Scorpion Winters previously on an X5 (for New England winters up to VT) and they work fine (and will be fine for DC), but I also prefer the Alpins if you had a choice.

I decided to go with the Michelins. It looks like the Alpin 5 SUV is a newer tire than the Scorpion Winter and seems to perform better under winter conditions. The the info I found it seems like the Pirelli may actually handle better in dry conditions, but I only plan to use this winter setup from December to early March and ultimate dry handling at the limit is not that critical in the winter months. When I put my summer wheels/tires back on the car I will be able to have more fun with the car. Thanks for the input.

For what it's worth, we took delivery of our ordered '21 Macan Turbo last November on the Porsche winter wheel/tire set, including Michelin Alpin tires. I noticed an improvement in steering and handling feel when we switched to the summer wheel/tire set this Spring.
