Hi
i have a 2017 Macan with PCM4 with Apple CarPlay installed and working. Ive tried to plug in my android phone but it doesnt seem that Android Auto is connecting.
Question: given that Apple CarPlay module is installed does this mean that Android Auto would also be installed and perhaps needs activating by the dealer or are the Apple and Android modules seperate.

Surprisingly, even the 22 Macan does not have Android Auto. There are third parties that seem to be able to enable this, at least in PCM5. Search this and other forums if you haven't already done so.

Two separate distinct products - having CarPlay has nothing to do with Android Auto.
I had seen your original post and contacted Porsche to ask about activating Android Auto and they said "...theres's no such thing as just activating Android Auto" and that my Carplay enabled PCM4 headunit is not compatible with AA.
I would rather avoid third party options but it looks like I have no choice as the dealer is not going to play ball.

thanks again
activate android auto on PCM4 is fully Porsche native android auto, it is not 3rd party product. Have a read on my post you will have better idea of all technical background
I guess this is what the dealer is saying as well.
I just had the impression reading all the posts that Carplay and Android Auto functionality was contained on the same board/chip internally (and if you had one you also had the other) and that there was a simple activation of one over the other.
From my read over the last few weeks, it seems that the AA is built-in for PCM 4, but not enabled by Porsche. So you can get that activated by 3rd party. I've just ordered from a website today that they said I can just plug in their SD card and activate it myself. Will report back once I receive the package.

If third parties can essentially jailbreak the PCM, why doesnt Porsche just make it Android compatible when built?
Maybe they had some exclusive contracts with Apple? Who knows ... Wish I tried this earlier, have been driving around with the crappy built-in nav for about 4 years now
Underneath PCM is the same core system that VAG runs across all of VW, Audi, Porsche, Seat, etc. There is a pretty big modding / homebrew community built up around the platform.
