Macan went in reverse on Drive
My 2021 Macan went into reverse with the backup camera turned on at a stoplight when the transmission was still on D (Drive). Luckily no one was behind me.
This happened once with my 2018 Macan a few months ago. I called service and they said they haven’t had this happen to anyone before. It’s weird that it happened to me twice on two difference cars. Anyone else experience this? And yes before you ask, I’m 110% sure I was on Drive (why on earth would anyone shift to Revere at a stoplight?)

Boy, that could be a disaster if it happens when underway. I've not heard of this issue before.

If you’ve had that happen twice now, and with two different Macans, you should definitely file two separate reports (one for each incident) on the NHTSA website. That’s a definite safety issue.
And is it just me, or are others noticing that it seems more PDK related issues are surfacing in this forum lately?

You sure the transmission actually went into reverse? Could be that the PCM just glitched and activated the backup camera?
If it happens again, take a video on your phone to show to the dealership.

To the OP, did both Macans have surround view and did you also get a warning tone from the parking sensors?

I think what the OP is experiencing is the forward camera and parking sensors triggering when coming to stop with a car close in front of you....I've had this happen a few times w/ my '21.

The backup camera switched on and the assumption is being made the transmission shifted itself from Drive into Reverse (any proof?).
Sounds sensational!
Let me ask how you get most of your exercise? Does the activity involve jumping?

I've had the rear-view camera activate in Drive on my 18 GTS a couple of times as well. At the time I had thought it was based on sensing the car rolling backwards, which is easy to do for a split second with PDK on a steep hill. The parking assist features on the Macan do seem a little sensitive in general.
It would be interesting to know from the OP if the car actually went backwards when applying throttle and/or if it was necessary to shift back into Drive to move forwards which would prove/disprove the "it's just the camera" theory.

Actually, the theory is that the OP's Macan shifted itself into reverse - with no demonstrated proof.
Paul125 offered a reasonable explanation above.
Over the many, many years I drove stick, what used to occasionally mess me up was waiting for a light on an incline and noticing the vehicle in the
next lane creep forward. I cannot count the number of times I pressed harder on the brake pedal because of the illusion my vehicle was rolling
backwards...

I was at a stoplight last night in my 2021 Macan and went to activate the rear wipers and my rear camera came on.
I admit it was freaky, then reflexively, I shifted the gear to park and then back to D.
The gear never shifted to reverse by itself. I am sure of that.
It was the camera that came on as I was trying to turn on the rear windshield wipers. My lane was packed with the car in front of me and behind me very close to my car. Not sure if it was the proximity to the other cars or simply me activating the washer fluid for my rear wiper. Will keep an eye out.

Yikes! Were you on a slight incline? I noticed my backup camera turns on while in Drive when I’m on a slight incline & the car has the stop-start option on. The incline has to be ever so slight where the car doesn’t turn on the Hold option.
I took it to the dealer but they couldn’t replicate it since we didn’t have time to go to the inclines that this usually happens on so they were unable to fix anything. They told me even if we replicated, they don’t know how to even fix it. I just turned off the start-stop option and no issues so far. I found forums where it happened to other people too:https://www.macanforum.com/threads/m...ck-back.93161/

I’ll keep eye out on incidents where it turns on when the rear wipers are activated but I wonder if that was a coincidence and you were on a slight incline. Good luck!!!
