thats not really a good measure or actual data point to convey the reliability of the pdk
Likely, you're right. I'll start a Macan specific PDK thread with a poll and we can at least get some percentages from the Rennlist community, though probably skewed negatively since some people may have ended up here after they had a problem and there are likely many other owners who just get in and drive their Macans without knowing anything about what gets discussed here.
The wife's Macan S is a 2020 and all the issues so far have been electrical.
1) Total electrical meltdown overnight; battery at around 6v IIRR; amply related in the forum in mid 2020 with the car maybe 4 months old. Vehicle was on life support with CTek charger for 3+ days and resurrected.
2) Headlight strobing sort of like a cop car. Also amply recounted on the forum, dealer couldn't find the fault either and just re-flashed. No issues since, this event was a few weeks after the above
3) Rear left lower position light (in the reverse light etc. housing), LED light out. Alas stupidly you can't replace a 30 cent LED but need to buy the entire assembly. Idiotic and environmentally irresponsible IMHO, will replace the unit it myself as not driving 700+ miles for a $135 dollar part, same with courtesy service that way I know who did the work.
2017 Macan S driven 50k miles with ZERO issues. Maybe I've been lucky but I tell people it is the best car I have ever purchased. In fact, buying a new '21 and giving the '17 to my daughter. I also own a 991 C2S but the Macan is my DD.
Not much to add, but anyway The 2019 Macan S (17,000 miles) is the ONLY new car that I have owned (many cars over 70 years of driving) that has not had ONE defect NO TRIPS TO THE DEALER OTHER THAN SCHEDULED SERVICES
BUT I agree, a WARRANTY after the 4 years is probably a good idea
OOOO, I just got a call THEY WANT TO SELL ME A WARRANTY
Macan Turbo 2016, never a problem.
Macan Turbo 2021, noise from the driveshaft to be checked, many internal creaks, at only 8,000 km. Soon I will change it for an RS4 Avant.
What’s an extended warranty cost for the macan anyways?
according to the Allstate link ( You need to buy online or at a dealer agents do not service them) with 35K on the car for 7yrs -100K coverage it was $6,700. Drop down to 6 yrs -OR- 85K and it takes $1,000 off. But when you read the fine print there are limits (like any run of the mill EW.) But it would cover the PDK for sure. I am interested in 7 years 85K because I work from home now and the car sits for days without turning the ODO. <BUT NOT AT THAT PRICE>
