Default Dash mat recommendations

I bought a used 2017 Macan S this month. It is white with a tan interior, but a black dash. The dash gets really hot when the sun is out, to the point that I need to crank up the a/c fan to cool off my face. So I’m considering a dash mat. Can anyone recommend one? Currently I’m looking at a Covercraft Carhart Ltd Edition mat. Thx

I have also noticed that the upper body cooling for the driver is lacking. I believe it is because the DS vents are partially obstructed by the steering wheel. That Carhart is certainly not as ugly as a carpet mat but still a dust magnet. The Leather package (dash) is probably less reflective. Here in the PNW we learn to deal with the heat of summer because come late September, October we will not see it again for another six months.

I put a Dashdesigns DashTex version in my 928 and like it much better than the carpet ones. Came from Auto Anything with one of their online coupons.

I prefer to use a high-quality foam core sunscreen sized specifically to the car. No issues with a scorching dash or steering wheel, even on those 117-119 days in Phoenix. Combined with good tint, they reduce the amount of heat energy in the entire car, which in turn makes the ac more effective.

Have one in each vehicle. 30 years living in the desert. Heat management becomes an integral part of the driving experience.

I think OP is referring to while they are behind the wheel.

Understood. I'm not talking about the benefit while it's parked. A cooler dash and interior to begin with don't get as hot while driving because you're running the ac at that point. Thanks.

I use a sunshade as well, but mostly garage the car. Not so much for the sun as the roving marauders in my crime-ridden neighborhood.

I vote for sunshades as well. I use cover raft in all my cars. Good luck.

I always put up the sunshade when the car is parked outside. The issue is driving on a hot, sunny day. The black dash really gets hot, and the a/c vent system can’t really keep me cool unless the fan is high, which can get noisy. So I am considering a dash mat if that would help and not cheapen the look.

What if you have a front seat passenger? I cannot see how a dash mat would be good in a front-end collision with passenger airbag going off with a dash mat there. It would be difficult to know which direction that mat will fly along with airbag going off. Just a thought

I think if there was an issue with dash mats and air bags, we would know by now.

There's a cut-out in the dash mat for that. Those passenger airbags probably aren't going off anyhow as a recall has a list of something like 40K Macans. Besides, life is better without a nagging passenger (or perhaps that is just bitterness from 20 years of a b!+@# riding shotgun in my vehicles.)

Ordered from dashcare.com for my Audi TT so let’s see how it fits. If good will do for Macan.
