Need to take to specialist for oil change?
For a Macan S, do I need to take it to my Porsche specialist for oil changes? He does my 993. It’s $$$. Can I take to like a tire and auto? Thanks! (I did a search and didn’t find this amateur question!)

You can... I wouldn't!
It's pretty easy to DIY an oil change on a Macan - much easier than for a 993!
1. raise the front end
2. remove the underpanel (get a trim tool kit from Amazon)
3. position your drain pan
4. remove the drain plug
5. replace the drain plug and remove the oil filter canister (you'll need a 34(?)mm socket)
6. replace the oil filter and o-ring - be sure to obtain the CORRECT o-ring or it'll leak!!!
7. pour in new oil - less 1/2 quart then it calls for - start engine and verify there are no leaks.
8. reinstall the underpanel
9 lower the vehicle
10. check the oil level before the next start-up and add a few ounces in order to top up.Good luck!

LOL...buddy of mine made fun of me when he dropped me off to have my Macan oil change for how much I paid. Two weeks later his engine blew up on the road due to him having his done at a 'Tire and Auto' place; apparently the plug was not installed correctly. He is now in court over the matter. Not into last laughs but...

So, following - because I just did a Porsche oil change. I'm not opposed to say, 150-200... but $300.USD? Yeah, I'm comfortable enough with youtube and tools. P-tech does an awesome job. I just want to check with the list above: #5 -- shouldn't there be a new plug and crush washer? I "think" it might be TTY plug. Just something I heard about the plug. The new plug washer is surely on that list.

1. For one thing, to do this service correctly the vehicle needs to be level. Unless you've got access to a pit, you've got to lift the car correctly at the four side lift points.
2. The underbelly pan is attached by a bunch of T25 Torx fasteners. A trim tool is worthless.
3. Drain plug takes an 8mm Allen bit. Best know that before you attempt removing it with anything else.
4. You need a new crush washer when replacing the drain plug. Some think it's good practice to put in a new drain plug each oil change. You should also use a torque wrench to tighten the drain plug correctly.
5. Filter canister o-ring is included with the correct filter kit.
6. You cannot check oil level unless engine is running and oil temperature is up to an unspecified value.
7. And then you'll need a scan tool to reset the service advisory.
There's several YouTube videos to show the procedure. Here's one:

100 miles later my warranted X5 threw a bearing. My dealer accused me of being delinquent on my servicing. Oddly, every service was done by the book and at that dealer. I called BMW Canada and USA, they said it was a dealership issue. So no help from them.
The dealership suggested a $26k new motor. I thought that was a lot after my 900 dollar oil change? We eventually settled. But really? Dealership, indy, or in your own driveway. You will ultimately be responsible for anything done to your car. Guilty until proven innocent.
If you need a more current experience. My macan last month went in for leaky valve covers. They dropped the engine to do the work. I picked up the car at closing, and parked it. I started it in the morning, boom. It dumped all the coolant on the floor. I was told to get it back to the dealership and they would take a look at it. The car was there for a month. Due to Covid, no loaner they said.
Really, the only person you can trust? is yourself. Any issue? Its still your problem.
A tire and auto place, an Indy, or a Franchise. No one cares.

Yes - a new crush washer - tighten the drain bolt to the appropriate TQ spec. so you know it's crushed the washer...
new o-ring
new crush washer
new oil
new oil filter

I would never take any car to a quick lube place for oil changes. DIY, independent, or dealer if reasonable. An independent should not be charging the same labor rates on the Macan as a 911 if they go buy hour and not flat rate. My dealership is actually pretty reasonable with oil change costs at about $250.

FWIW, I actually did the oil and filter change without raising the vehicle. (I'm a skinny old geezer). You can alleviate the clearance issue by simply driving onto four short lengths of 2x12's....or you could buy two sets of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Megan-Racin...72.m2749.l2649
