Default Brake Controller & Towing

For those who ordered the tow package, is the harness above the driver's side left footwell (thinking of connecting a Tekonsha as in my Touareg)?

Lastly can someone confirm this data from 2016 or so that it's still correct for a 2020 Macan S with air suspension:

Towing capacity braked: 5,291 pounds and unbraked 1,653 pounds?

TIA

On my 2016 there was a 7 blade RV harness behind a plate near the hitch.

Had to buy a pollock adapter to get it to work to tow a Uhaul trailer.

That simply allows your towed hitch to connect to the electrics of your car. Beyond a certain weight (see my question above) you need a (my preference is for a proportional) electric brake controller that electrically (or hydraulically depending on what you're towing) off loads your vehicle's brakes from stopping the load.

I would add, irrespective of whether you have air suspension or not you must get a WDH as air suspension does nothing to the fulcrum of the load. See attached picture

Checked the manual for our 2017 S, and Porsche must have revised the numbers, braked is 4,409 and unbraked is the same 1,653. The 2020 manual shows the same numbers as the 2017 manual. Never towed with our Macan since I use my F150 for any towing.

Thanx Todd! Definitely understand the F150 option.

In class not much can touch my Touareg at 7,700 lbs. but with constant fire dangers I need to be able to evacuate quickly and need my Touareg to tow my 30' trailer ergo whatever little the Macan can tow will help.

Hope you don't need to evacuate and the fires stay away. But at least you have your plan lined up and the Macan can help out.
