Does a replaced Transfer case, replaced under warranty or goodwill, come with it own warranty? Of an extra year or two? Or does it just fall under the original warranty timeline?
what Ive been told anything replaced under the warranty is only covered during the warranty. If you replace something out of pocket the parts come with a 2 year warranty. Not sure where a goodwill repair would fall. I would think its the later and the parts would have a 2 year warranty, you would still need to deal with the labor.
There are three owners here with mid-level mileage on their Macans. So far mine has been trouble-free. It's an '18 Turbo. I've read some early history on the Cayennes. They found that the TC's were failing at a high rate. They at some point mandated the TC fluid be changed every 30K. Whether fact or fiction, Come another 4K at 30,000 miles, I'll be doing my own plugs. But I will take it to a dealership to have the fluid changed as preventative maintenance. If it works, great. If not, I've wasted coin on the fluid changes.
My 2011 Cayenne Turbo had 3 transfer cases in the time I had it. The final one, which was the latest revision, seemed to be holding up well when I traded it. Some Cayenne owners are seeing positive results with a fluid change, others not so much. From what Ive seen with the 958.1 and 958.2 gen Cayennes, its just a matter of time if you dont have the latest version.
The Macans seem much more random in terms of TC issues, as compared to the 958s.

Wow, that's a lot of repairs on the same part, hope you didn't have to pay out of pocket on those. On the Cayenne's it seems the problem is the venting on the case, it lets water in, which mixes with the gear lube. So regular fluid change intervals would be a good thing.

All covered by warranty fortunately. Yes, the venting and subsequent water ingestion seemed to be the main issue, but the latest TC version was apparently beefed up a bit as well. I have to say, Porsche really took care of me whenever I had issues with it. So far, so good with my Macan GTS TC. Im at 23k miles.

I have a new to me Cayenne Turbo S with only 19k miles , it is an 2016............ Now that I have read about all the AWD Porsches issues, I think I am glad i got a great deal ....................Future expenses will more than offset the low price I paid.
Not really happy with what I have read .
I have a 2016 Macan Turbo with about 47K on the clock. I had to have the TC replaced (CPO) a few months back. I bought it used, with ...maybe 39k on the clock.
My CPO is up in Dec of 2021....I'm wondering if it's worth keeping beyond then (my wife loves it).

Did you flush the TC fluid regularly or just rely on the CPO to fix it...............I must say, I wish I had read this forum before I bought my Cayenne Turbo.............I can't believe that a car with an MSRP of 175,000.00 can have so many major DESIGN FLAWS THAT ARE SERIOUS.....................

I've only put about 10-12K on the Macan since I've owned it (maybe less), I don't have a service history that indicates it was flushed regularly. I will say that when I did take it to an indy shop to get the fluid flushed, the TC problem immediately showed up. It's under CPO so I took it to the dealer and they replaced it.
The Cayenne, from what I'm reading, has a drastically different and more pronounced issue with the TC than the Macan.

You must be new to Porsches?! This is pretty much the norm now with their vehicles. You don't become the most profitable car company in the world by building quality cars.
Just be thankful you didn't buy any of the earlier Cayennes and 911s. Talk about a real POS.
I decided to purchase an after market warranty from the Porsche dealer................ TC replacement is 4x the cost of a 5 year extended warranty......... Too many issues I have read about to own this 2016 TTs Cayenne .........It only has 20k miles but what if it has lots of issues ??????
Primarily with the Macan, although there is mention of Cayenne TC issues as well in the thread.
Thanks for the response I went back thru this thread and it "seems" most reports are aligned to S and Turbo model's , I wonder if the base 4 cycl is less likely to experience this issue when approaching 30 - 50k miles as I have a base 2020 on order
