It took 24 shop hours to fix mine. I had 6 broken bolts according to the tech.

The wifes car doesnt seem to have it.

I hope it doesnt come back.

That engine appears to be still in the vehicle!

Apparently not all dealerships(?) are pulling the engine?

...also - that appears to be the lower timing chain housing cover lying there on the floor - its inside facing up.
You may recall, I mentioned the manual I have noted both upper and lower timing chain housing covers.
Apparently, there are three (3) covers - the lower one (pictured above) and two (2) upper covers - one for
each head and pair of camshafts.

Looks like a fairly involved procedure to access.

I know thats an accurate number, I don't know what the shop charged PCNA. The reason I know is because thats how many working hours the car was parked in the bay. (Yes I have a tracker)

My 2017 Macan gts has 30,000 miles. Just dropped it at the dealer with an oil leak. Was just told it would take 3-4 WEEKS to fix it. Dropping the engine, ordering parts from Germany etc.

The dealer should set you up with a loaner during that time. Best of luck with it, should be fine when they're done with it.

Gives me an idea. That last pic does look like it's still in the vehicle. That means they took off the front bumper. Right? I'm thinking, I want to upgrade the front flat black grill work. Suncoast has a kit with all 5 pieces for $200 in gloss black. Now IF...IF I were to get an oil leak... See where I'm going with this.

From a technical standpoint, I understand the issue of using aluminum bolts to screw into aluminum heads. Could wind up with a serious problem. However, I wonder out loud if Porsche is using a machine to install the bolts or are they all done one at a time by an assembly man. If it's a manual operation, it's got to be a PITA.

This is not looking good for Porsche's reputation.

It was still in the car. Yes they took the whole front apart.

Will update status at next oil change.

Question: Is this more prone to one engine over another? Is it more prevalent for the 3.6L? The 3.0L? I am curious.... Anyone know the stats here?

The service manager where my MT is sitting right now told me they have to pull the engine per Porsche warranty instructions.
I had sent him the in-car photo above and asked whether they'd be doing the job with the engine that way.

I have a almost new 2018 Panamera 4S for a loaner. Very nice. I'm not sure why the pundits/journalists are complaining about the
Panamera. 8-speed, 2.9L with 440 HP, Burmester, etc. Good rear seat legroom. Nice rear seats!

I just had an oil change done at my dealer on Friday and the tech did a thorough inspection on mine during the service for this oil leak situation. Good report thus far at 19k miles, dry as a bone. They’ll keep inspecting it at all future service appointments, but so far so good for my rig.

My SA says they have repaired a few leakers (confirmed engine out procedure), but he says many never leak. I guess it’s the lottery you don’t want to win. Keeping my fingers crossed, but I have a lot of warranty left.

Just sharing my latest experience to add to the information pipeline here on this subject.

Yes - good luck.

Mine was dry at 20K as well. At almost 30K seepage was detected. So, it's in for some surgery.

I have been told I'll be sent photos to show me whether my engine has a one or three piece timing chain cover setup.

What year? Your join date shows 2017. Is it a 16 or 17 model? I'm wanting to see if it stopped in '16.
