It is a great car to drive on curvy, hilly roads.
I too care mostly about handling (and braking). For raw acceleration, some Teslas are faster than the Macan Turbo, but I consider the Macan 4 to have ample acceleration.
Top speed doesn't really matter in the US, we never get near it on the road. Even on track, I've never gotten any of my Porsches near their top speed.

Do you think I don't know about handling after 5 seasons of Carrera Cup, really? There are no good "performance SUVs" period.

Nobody said the Macan EV is a race car, nor is it meant to be driven near the limit on public roads. But it certainly has excellent handling and performance.
Mod message: alright I’ve let people express themselves but this is taking a stinky turn, please stay on topic and be respectful or free vacays will be given. Thank you!
Congrats on the decision and hope your dad is improving. I think it’s hard to go wrong with any of these choices - and with that kind of discount, the Macan is a no-brainer.
I have a Plaid S and absolutely love it. I also own several ICE Porsches and love them too. I’m sure I’d love a Taycan or Cayenne EV. There is room for all of them and that’s the beauty of it - get what makes you smile, and move on to something else when you want.
In the grand scheme of things these are all first world problems and we are blessed to have choices. Post some pics when you can!

Picked up my Macan Turbo EV today. Looks, feels, and drives like a Porsche. It's fast, but not too fast (acceleration is less pronounced at high speeds). I'm happy (so far) with the purchase. Kind of reminds me of the 992.1 Turbo S.

Yeah, it's very black, like drug dealer black, but I like that for this menacing turbo ethos. My plan is drive it in all weather (will get the winter wheel/tire package for next winter) so, sadly, it won't be clean very often.

congrats!
window sticker please? for options list ;-)
I've highlighted my preferred EV charger (EVSE) locations in your garage…in the pic below.

Middle position seems best for the charger, gives more flexibility on where to park the Macan.
Window sticker MSRP was about $113k, building it today would be about $123k MSRP, I paid $95k as a CPO with 4500 miles on it. I think it's a great vehicle, but at $123k Porsche would be asking a lot, given that the rear seat legroom is pretty limited, so the utility is significantly less than a Cayenne.
Speaking of which, I took my wife's 2022 Cayenne Turbo for a drive this morning (bought last year as a CPO). The Cayenne is really impressive. Compared to the Macan, the seating position is significantly higher, it feels significantly bigger, the handling isn't quite as good as the Macan (but still really good), the acceleration feels almost as strong as the Macan, the aggressive engine/exhaust sound is fun, and overall it feels and looks like a more 'premium' vehicle (as it should, given the much higher MSRP price point). Overall, the Macan feels closer to being like a big sports car, whereas the Cayenne feels more like a very sporty SUV.

nice build
I agree on the EVSE location - a good EVSE with 25 ft cord will allow maximum flexibility for parking location and still being able to charge.
the Porsche Universal Charger that's included with the vehicle is sufficient but no one's favorite chioice…
I recommend one of the following EVSE's on a hardwired circuit 60 amps if you can…
Porsche Wall Charger Connect - for that Porsche design language "feel" - J-1772 25ft cord - adjustable amps from 20-100 amp breakers…
hardwired
Tesla Universal Wall Charger - many many features - Dual charge port support - NACS & J-1772 - future proof - 25ft cord - adjustable amps from 20-60 amp breaker
hardwired
ChargePoint Flex - many many features - can be J-1772 or NACS cord - swappable - 25ft cord - adjustable amps from 20-70 amp breaker
hardwired, NEMA 14-50, NEMA 6-50 choices
if you're going to run the EVSE included with the vehicle - get a NEMA 14-50 Hubble Commerical grade NEMA outliet _OR_ EV rated Leviton outlets - "lesser" $12 NEMA 14-50 outlets don't handle the thermal loads of multi-hour charging session and can fail in spectacular fashion…don't settle for a non-commerical outlet - Porsche specifies part numbers in a tech bulletin I can share if you like…
the Macan's maximum charge rate is 9.6 kW which is 240V at 40 amps on a 50 amp breaker - but installing a high capacity EVSE 60 amp or more is preparation for future EV/Hybrid's which support higher residential charge rates - the Cayenne EV for example has a 19.2 kW on board charger option - that would require Porsche Wall Charger on a 100 amp breaker as an example.
the main hassel with an EVSE install is not the size of the circuit but rather getting the work done and permitted - my philosophy is do it only once and get a high capacity install so you don't do it again in the future:
Good - NEMA 14-50/6-50 EV grade outlet - 50 amp breaker is max size for plug-based EVSE install
Better - Hardwired EVSE 50 amp breaker or larger - 60/80/100 amps would be good
Best - 125 amp sub-panel in the garage and one breaker in the subpanel for your 'first' EVSE - 50-100 amps
the subpanel makes it less work to add a 2nd EVSE install in the future…

one of my wife's favorite features of EV's is pre-conditioning to heat the car in the winter - and just leaving hte car "on" but locked to run the AC when leaving it in a parking lot in the summer…

Having a black on black EV, I like to use pre-conditioning cooling via the app in hot summer days at the golf course.
