I've payed that before. I remember filling up my VW bug for about 5 bucks. Of course it took several hours of flipping burgers to earn that much money.

I might get a little riled up seeing that sign at a local station. Those rat bastards.

Just saw something on the tube yesterday about the continuing appeals process with the punitive damages award from the Exxon Valdez fiasco.....19 years later, and over 20% of those included in the Class Action suit have died off, including one of the original attorneys who brought the suit. The award has been lowered three times, but the appeals continue......

Okay I have to confess I made the sign myself.

Here is another updated version.

Follow the link in the pic and make your own.

I too recall when gas hit 50 cents a gal. and there were dire predictions being made of gas actually going over a dollar a gallon! Ah gas lines, where you could sit burning up gas while waiting to get gas.....what a country!

We had a guy a couple of blocks away who decided to stock pile gasoline...in 55 gallon drums...in his basement. They found his front door a least a block away after the whole thing blew. He was one of the early recipients of a Darwin Award....posthumously.

Remember when it went over $1.00 - it broke the whole system. Pumps couldn't be set for prices that high so most stations recalibrated so it showed twice the volume at half the price. The outside price signs had no space for that digit either.

They can't afford to pay the settlement. They only made 42 billion last year.

So what if the skipper was drunk and not at the wheel.

I recall being outraged that the gas prices in Georgia and Florida were in the $3.14 range . . . then when I got home yesterday afternoon, I saw that the prices were $3.45 a gallon! That's for 87 test! All I can think of is the poor college kid flipping burgers at Hardee's not being able to afford to drive himself to work. This is getting rediculous.

So, you would rather have had him at the wheel while drunk????

Still under $3.00 at some stations here, but barely.

Wow, Bob, that's incredible. I remember getting ticked off when it went over a dollar. Oh, how I long for the good ol' days (and it wasn't that long ago -- 1988). I read in the Pensacola News Journal (local paper in Florida) that prices might climb to over four bucks by spring! And that was in Florida! Crap!!!

What's killing me is diesel. Why is diesel so much more than premium gasoline? It costs less (theoretically) to refine it. Best answer I've heard is 'supply and demand'. More diesel vehicles being sold now. Who knows, but its killing me with my truck. Diesel here is averaging $3.70/gallon now. I need to start driving the RSA to work....
