'Slate Grey' 615 vs 'Black/Grey' 7A1...
Thanks for the kind words, Reid. I has been a pleasure sharing thoughts
& ideas with you, especially since we got on our quest to identify all 30 of
the late '15 991 gt3 PTS allocations in 'Signal Green', 'Arena Red' & 'Fashion
Grey'! Good luck with your beautiful 'Slate Grey' gt4!
********************************************
'Grey/Black' was specially formulated for the .2 997 gtr RS & still available
as PTS on the 991/981:
*
The 'Slate Greys' currently approved for PTS:
*
The current 'Slate Greys' look like this on 'Porsche Exclusive' provided samples.
Here are Melissa Witek's words that accompanied the photo above:
Color code 615 is the 'Slate Grey' that Sportscentury chose for his gt4!
*
'Slate Grey' is a historic/vintage early Porsche color dating back from
the 356B days in the early 1960's:
*
By the early 911/912 period, it was referred to as color code 615:
So if you want the true Steve McQueen 'Slate Grey', you will be looking
for color code 615!

Someone has previously photographed 'Black/Grey', code 7A1, next to
PTS 'Slate Grey', code 615. Here it is:

I hope that helps!

Thanks, everyone!
Mgerber -- Yes, maybe a 1/1. If not, I can't imagine there are too many. Thanks!
Jamie -- I agree, the two greys look very different in person.
Ed -- Thanks, as always, for your informative and thorough posts!
Daniel -- Thank you! You are welcome to swing by and see it in person any time. Maybe you can pick up Jimmy and Peter on the way. Or maybe we'll connect to compare PTS greys at an event some time.
Dertub -- I agree, I prefer the monochromatic historic colors, though there are many metallics I have grown to like quite a bit.
Chris -- Thank you! And thanks for all of the free therapy during the long PTS wait.
