no production date.
The Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche shows the production date. Porsche will provide one to you if you ask. The first one should be at no charge to you.

Is the database up to date? I see OrthoJoe and doborder reported failures, but do not see them in the Google docs spreadsheet. Looking at the link in original post...

The database is not current, steve0827 is the owner of the file. If everyone who is not on the list that has had a failure, and want to be on the list, would send him a PM with the pertinent info, he'll get around to it.

The invoice date will be ex-Osnabruck and the other indicator will be the ECU coding date, from PIWIS or Durametric.

Fallen a bit behind on the gearbox threads. I'm a first year law student, so very busy right now. Will skim through the threads over the next week to get new failures added.

Going forward though, best way is to PM me since I get the email notification every time.

Will cross post this on other thread.

Default GT4 3rd gear failure

User name: first Porsche ever (one word, spell correct interference)
Vin: 192052
3rd gear
Total mileage : 4100
Total track miles : approx 2000
Track days : 18
Circumstances: was at Sebring and went to unshift from second, it just over revved, was not dramatic at all.
Tires: RE71/R
If I can provide anything else please let me know. I'm in Melbourne Florida and will need to bring the car to Foriegn Affairs in South Florida for repair. I willl keep up with how the experience proceeds.

Was at VIR this weekend. Coming out of the sweeping left turn 10, down into a dip I downshift from 4th to 3rd while braking going uphill toward 11. Downshifted and it felt like neutral (engine revved and no power) and I thought "I'm the next one to lose 3rd gear." Put it in 4th and drove around to the pits where I tried 3rd again and it worked fine. I guess I just mis-shifted and hit neutral. First time I had ever done that, and I was paranoid after reading this thread.

Default GT4 Trans

If it makes you feel any better.... I was repeatably asked if I missed the gear. Apparently its a common occurrence.
Mine was for real.
Porsche fixed it in 10 days.

Wow, 50% track miles?? Nice. You must tow the car to the track?

I'll start updating the the database today.

I haven't been getting email notifications for the transmission threads and haven't been on RL in a while.

Default GT 4 transmission failure

I do trailer it, I am in Florida and most tracks are about 2 - 3 hours away.
I figure the average track day is good for about 115 miles. Depending on the track, traffic and my skills (or lack of it).
When I go sell it and get in line for a GT4RS (ha ha) it will be "lightly tracked and low mileage"

Add me to the list:

Date of manufacture - March 23

Total miles - 5700

Number of track days -9

Estimated track miles - 800

The failed gear - 3rd only

Brief recount of the failure - under power in 3rd on no name straight Limerock, shudder then free rev

Tires - Dunlop

Other relevant info - mild track alignment, drove 115 miles home avoiding 3rd with no issues thanks to the good info here
