Good point, my rep seems to think that there is no way the 4banger can get the power they need but hey what do we know its atleast 2 years out in IMHO.

Just drive it
I paid over MSRP for my used 6500km car.. I was more then happy to because it was the cheapest one I could find, really not sure where the values are going but hey I am driving it now!

There's a 114K MSRP car on the lot at Porsche of Beverly Hills for 139900 with about 600 miles on it, if they get that much I'll be blown away but these still do seem to be going up a bit.

I never hear the chorus of "you should only buy that gorgeous mansion if and ONLY if you intend on living in it 100% of the time." Or, the watch collector with lots of expensive pieces that are never worn. The list goes on and on. A Porsche, ANY Porsche, is a luxury item. Period. It is a truism that one could perhaps have a better ROI buying a different asset than a depreciating asset such as a car, any car. So what?

Seriously, some people like collecting things, possessing them, more than using them. Who gives a ****? This "cars were meant to be driven" nonsense is just that, nonsense. Manufacturers are in the business of selling things. Customers buy them, for whatever reasons. I could give a damn if someone bought a new GT4 and tried to mount a snow plow on it. I'd rather see some middle-aged "speculator" have the car and properly maintain and care for it than some snot-nosed kid who was given one for graduating from Andover who drives the crap out of it. Different hot buttons, I suppose.
That's fair. Perhaps "just drive it" was not the correct phrase. More or less, what I'm getting at is if its worth it to you now, buy. Whether that means you just drive it home and park at it and stare for the 10 years you own it. Whatever floats your boat.

But I guess I never understood why you would purchase a new car for speculation. If that's an upside, so be it, but as you stated they are luxury items first. Just my opinion though.

Ebay prices seem to be coming down, but not sure if asking prices are selling prices. My own experience is asking is much higher than selling for some. "Some" being patient buyers. 2099 miles on the GT4 I took delivery of late October 2015 (my factory order at MSRP), <400 miles on the GT4 I took delivery of early August. GT3 has just over 2000 miles and I took delivery September 2015 with 700 miles. Am I saving them? Nope, just live 1000 feet from "work". And my GT3 RS has 11,000 miles on it. Driven only a few miles on weekends by a senior citizen.

Why do you have two racing yellow gt4s?

My gt4 is probably going up in November. I'm going to track the rs and figure out once and for all which one is my track car. So anyone looking for a black on black with yellow stitching, check with me in November.

Outside of trying to make a buck, why are so many GT4s for sale?

If you bought a 918 you're on the list to buy any limited Porsche, the first time you say no you're off the list so there are some guys who bought one and never wanted it.

There are some guys who thought they could make a buck.

There are some guys who bought the car and didn't like it.

Porsche made more than they originally planned to make.

Those are the reasons in my opinion.

Because if you can, then you must. Once the GT4 was made a competition car it was not always available to drive on the street, often had Hoosiers on it. Some events I compete on RE71Rs, but not always. Second GT4 is a street car. Street car choices are 2015 GT3 or 2016 GT4. Depends which one can get out of the garage easiest. Most days I take my F350 Superduty as commute is about 1000 feet.

The new 718 Cayman S is already as fast as the GT4 (at least to 60) and is faster with PDK. I question your Rep's knowledge unless he thinks Porsche wants GT3 level power in the next GT4.

I would be a little more patient and see what direction the 991.2 GT3 is going and more definitive info on the next GT4. I think this GT4 is going to get interesting if the next iteration goes Turbo -It certainly is not the fastest car but may be one of the more interesting cars as time passes.

And do not get me wrong- I did not buy this car to collect dust - But- I think it is a keeper becuase so much fun around town and going to compliment in near future with a another Porsche or some thing else

Mine will be up this weekend. 10 over MSRP, but I have added clear bra and tint.

19 miles on the car. Selling because I have a 20+ cars and my clubsport has finally arrived. No need for the car as it will never get driven.

GT Silver.

Why are people so hung up on "fast"? ....The 718 Cayman S is nowhere close to the GT4 in adrenalin pumping, celestial-noise-making or driving thrills with a manual which is what I wanted.....u want fast? Save a bunch of money and go with a Z06 or LT1 camaro or a million other choices but, to me, GT4 is music to my soul,......and I hang around a half-dozen new GT3RS very often...and, if you haven't noticed.....a 718 Cayman S will be priced right along a GT4.....but the 718S will plummet in value
