Just had a 2nd opinion by a highly regarded wheel repairer that my dealer sent the wheel to, wheel is still in good shape, they said the rim is quite thick and a non issue. Having it properly repainted, they said it will look brand new.

But I still would like to find a solution to fix this from happening again.

That must have made an annoying noise yeah? I get stones in my brakes all the time, the noise drives me nuts

+1. I guess I can live with brake dust.

(Actually, "yellow" has always saved me $9000. Just don't ever like it, with the exception of if the car is Irish Green.)

I think the problem here is that everyone you are going to consult will be a layman. I know we have some engineers on RL, maybe someone can chime in.

Slightly off topic question, but what do you guys recommend for cleaning up the satin black wheels?
Is there any kind of cleaner that can be used for mild road dirt that is "friendly" towards the paint finish?

Sorry this happened to your 991 wheel and brakes.The wheels/brakes in the first photo shown are from a 991 and not a GT4, clearances are different. Not sure about the crossposting other than to scare people?
