Default Wheel scoring on the inside

Today while washing my car, (starting with the wheels) I noticed some odd scoring on the inside of the left front wheel. It reaches all the way around. It seems to be in line with the brake disc. It feels scored to the touch.

I only use car shampoo to wash the wheels, and none of the other wheels have this, so it couldn't be caused by anything corrosive that I use.

I don't know what to make of it. Anyone have any idea what could have caused it?

Perhaps a rock or other hard substance was caught between the wheel and the rotor while you were driving?? Strange though.

check the top of the caliper, nothing more than a wheel weight, or debris got caught.

Did you get your car new or used? If used, it may have been previous damage.

I got the car new and have washed it myself for the last year and a half. First time it has been there.

That "checkering" almost looks like the same design as the rotor cooling vents. When something gets caught in there, can you hear it?

I have a minor score on the inside of one of my wheels also. Something just got caught between the caliper and rim.

A rock got stuck between your caliper and wheel, since the space is so tight it happens to a few of us. I had a wheel that has the same scoring as well.

I had similar issue but luckily I purchased the wheel insurance and they replaced the wheel. $3300 just for the wheel. Service did not recommend fixing as the wheel is very thin. Sharpie is another option.

Could it effect structural integrity?

Issue on cars with PCCBs. Little clearance between the caliper and wheel will allow rocks to get lodged between caliper and the wheel. Have marks on both of my fronts. I would doubt it would go deep enough to effect integrity.

Im gonna spray inside of wheel with a thin layer of silicon spray or tire dressing to keep the area slick in hopes of reducing risk
