The air coming over the roof will tend to flow down over the hatch area. This means the stock low mounted wing needs less angle of attack. If you raise the wing, you may need to increase the angle of attack. Additional adjustment may be useful.

What about 3D-printing them from metal powder? These services are readily available. Just transfer the OE bottom part of the design to CAD and extend to the larger height. Anyone good with AutoCAD?

I would so count me in. Though I'd add a test for a make-shift gurney flap in there made from a aluminum extrusion held on by 3m tape.

I had a similar idea back when everyone was complaining about the appearance of the black coating:

https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/8845...-interest.html

I received some interest, but was shocked at how many thought my projected price ($375-450) was way too much. I abandoned the idea after receiving my car and seeing the uprights in person as I didn't think they were that bad.

Im in the middle of developing new uprights.

The oem were quite a hassle to reverse engineer and are as complex a piece as I've seen for uprights, lots of subtle changes in angles.

-non contact scanning,,,

raw scans imported into solidworks

over-modeled with parametric data,,,

and finally the parametric data alone. From here I will create the taller uprights according t some CFD results.

Great!
My taller Barron uprights were my favorite update on my 4.0.

That was an advantage on the Barron uprights as well
I don't have a GT4 but I bet you will sell many.
Love clear rear view :-)

Might want to also pick a few popular vendors here to recommend / sell and install.

Any idea of price yet?

no not yet, just ordered some 6061 for the initial prototype set, and going into casting with the wrinkled finish. I like everything I make to have that oem look, feel and function. Once I deal with that I will have a better idea of the cost per set. Also developing some aero bits for the the overall car, will try to make them into packages.

Looking good.......even if the benefits are marginal and they are not a lot taller you will sell a ton of these. Count me in once you have them ready.

Great work! Impressed. Could you post some preview spoiler CAD of what you plan to make for replacements?
