The center tread can chunk as the tires get to the end of their life. 20hc is not a lot of life, but sounds about right, unfortunately.

What pressures are you running cold and seeing when hot?

Have you used a pyrometers and if so do you have measurements at pit wall, just off hot lap you can share with us?

Thanks

Cold: 25 psi
Hot: 34 - 36 psi
No pyro at pit wall. Never come in hot unless off and then it will be cool down depending on track and where it occurred.

Thanx Joe. On my other discarded ones I never saw missing chunks like that. I'm also wondering about that left over ridge on the outer thread. Looks to me like that is where the different compounds seam.

Default tiretemps

I used to run them at 34-35 until someone told me that at a local gt4 tech session the Porsche guy was saying to run them at 32

I tried it and it seemed to work very well. in a session later when one side got to 34-35 I only realized when the car started sliding a bit more and felt more greasy I looked at the pressures

(daytime temps and track temps had risen more than anticipated)

Yeah it's funny that ridge doesn't wear and starts to protrude while the outer tread block wears down

Get 19" wheels and put RE71Rs on them....problem solved.
