What is a good idea to write down or log on track day?
Some data I wrote down - wonder if it matters or if I missed something important:
Suspension camber / toe
Tire pressures before and after most sessions, air added
Number of sessions, distance driven
Ambient temp
I watched the oil/coolant temps, but didn't write any down.
With the sport button on, the temps were lower than freeway driving
I'm not really sure what a heat cycle is.
The sessions would start on the half hour, and the ambient temp was around 100.
Does each 20-25mins out on track count as a heat cycle on the tires?
I've seen a few log forms, you might try a search also in the racing and DE forum. In addition to tire pressures, weather conditions, etc. I try to jot a few notes on what happened in the session. For the first session which corner stations are manned. Any key mistakes I recall- missed apexes, 2 wheels off, etc. Also any flags displayed during the run. Track conditions -grip or lack of. How the car is behaving - like brake feel. Also before each session I try to write down 2 or 3 things to focus on and then at the end try to note how I did on those- progress? learnings. I'll scan my AIM Solo lap times and max/min speed, but wait until the end of the day to review video and data. I also have a checklist for morning and noon- like torque wheel bolts, visual check of brakes, wheels, tires, fluids levels, etc.
I don't do this religiously, but if I were going to do it I'd have three logs.
Log 1.A - Setup
For each day/session record date, time, session number, track, alignment, pressures, tire temp gradient.
For each session create notes on how car felt, and what to change for next session
Log 1.B - Driving
For each session, record efforts/learnings/and things to try next time.
Log 2 - Equipement Usage
Create an entry for each major equipment/consumable instance
Engine
Transmission
Engine Oil
Transmission Oil
Brake Rotor Front/Brand/Model
Brake Rotor Rear/Brand/Model
Brake Pads Front/Brand/Model
Brake Pads Rear/Brand/Model
Tires/Brand/Model
Still wondering - what counts as a Heat Cycle on the tires?
If I drive 4 laps and come in for 30mins. Is that a Heat Cycle?
All depends on how you drove those laps. Parade laps I wouldn't, but if I did a full speed etc lap and had to come in for whatever reason I would count it.
There is so little guidance/data on this. It's just a rule of thumb as to how many heat cycles a tire is useful - it's really just for you to estimate when you will need new tires, and specific to how you use them. So 10 cycles for you and I with a hoosier R7 might yield tires in very different states. I would count any session where you were driving at what you consider to be uninhibited for 2-4 laps. Exclude really wet sessions.
How many meter can you drift a gt4, why not check ☺️. I come to know that its more easy to keep a gt3 or a m3 on a long drift vs gt4. To me the gt4 is slightly more difficult to keep solid angle, as well it constantly is on the way to spinn around its axle. Hence fast feets to left foot brake it mid of drift to prevent it from spinning(see data of braking early in to drift) One need fast reactions, very much if rain drifting in hardest PASM setting Or buy a raclogics driftbox wich you see attached to my front window. It will instant give a score in drifting calculated on speed and yaw angle of car. It show laptimes also, a bit old but work fine.
Thats me 27m in to a 100+m drift on wet
79% oversteer, 100% all nannies off 100+m drift
That how the trothle is pushed(green) to keep car drifting up this right uphill bend. Red, that how I apply slightly left foot braking to prevent car from spinning out of track. White marker is ca. 30m in to drift when braking car to not spinn. Then keep going 70+m. Yellow, steering input

Bang on them brakes, how much G can you accuall generate. Here is 1.55 braking G 155 bar braking pressure
Same braking data, heavy braking 1.55g is displayed like this 1.6 g in this view( see pic below). Pedal fully red, I only braked my gt4 this hard Once and I had It For over 1 year now. Just wanted to try😂
Thats a full lit brake pedal🔥 See 1.6 G dail to the right of speedo dail
