Default It begins: Another GT4 euro delivery

New Porsche owner here.

Picked up our car at Zuffenhausen yesterday.

It looked like ours was the only US spec delivery on Friday. We had the English factory tour to ourselves.

Obligatory specs:
White
LWBS
PDLS
Rain sensing and auto dimming mirrors.
Full leather dash.
Standard cosmetic (lack of) options - platinum everything.
Leather wheel and shift ****.
Basic radio
Single zone manual AC
Light design package
Footwell net
Smoking package
Extended fuel tank.

There were at least 5 euro GT4s being delivered that day. 2 more white, one red, a Rhodium silver one next to ours, and a yellow one. There were also 2 gt3rs being delivered at the same time, and a white spyder.

During the factory tour we saw at least 5 GT3RS going down the production line, and several in the lot waiting for delivery. Pretty incredible.

More trip updates to be posted at the ED forum.

First impressions after driving for a day:

Race car feel is overrated. It is much more comfortable and polished than a race car. Suspension is firm but not harsh or jittery. LWBS are tight but not hard. Totally DD-able if it weren't so low.
Not good for taking guests as you'll have to explain how to open the doors, how to get in/out of the seats. Not worth the bother.
Exhaust is loud.
Handling is incredibly stable especially even at 100 mph on the autobahn. (Still breaking in)
It accelerates quickly but doesn't really pull that hard under 4K rpm, which I'm sticking to for the 1st 500 km. It's easy to drive like a normal sane person.
Clutch and shifter are smooth and easy to operate even though they seem heavy when trying it out while off.
Windshield really is easy to ding/crack (grrr. 2nd day of ownership, really?)

3 white GT4, one rhodium silver GT4. Ours is the one in the back. One white spyder?

Say hello. A yellow one for factory collection.

A red one!

Thanks! What's MBWorld? I do check the BMW forums occasionally to maintain my old M3.

Great build! That would be very close to how I would have ordered it. Show us some interior pics! I am fond of the black/platinum interior. Btw, is there anyway to order a non-black leather interior? I would think its not too hard since Caymans come in all sorts of different combinations.

No...Porsche has limited GT's to black interiors since the GT cars have been around, I think. Plus the window on ordering any GT4 is rapidly closing.

Your ED was our inspiration lol. My wife and I read each of your entries with great anticipation.

We just posted a midway update with lots of photos at the European Delivery forum
https://rennlist.com/forums/european...l#post13309371

I was just thinking, the 981 GT4 may be one of the most perfect looking cars ever. The design has so much personality. Also probably the most perfect driver's car on the market today. It's very comfortable and drivable with all the right gauges and manual modes.

Just a bit low if you need to do a lot of city parking or pass through automated toll gates.

Electric GT steering feels good. Different from hydraulic steering but maybe not worse. I haven't taken it to the limit though.

Love to hear that. There were many other ED threads that inspired me, so its awesome to be able to 'pay it forward' and inspire someone else.
