Maybe I'm ocd and need to get over myself too...

So water supply is a big thing... Whole house water softener and filter at source. If set properly there is no need for a deionizer. Central PA water is awful so this is a must to save in home plumbing and appliances anyway.

Next comes the car. Xpel then opticoat (any ceramic coating) at delivery makes the process a breeze. When its wash time. Wheels off (wash wheels, clean calipers, wells and tires). When I really feel up to it I'll dress the wheel wells with Aerospace 303 as it makes them look new and helps resist dirt. I rinse the car down with hose, then kranzle + MTM foam canon, 2 bucket wash like everyone, and air dry (master blaster) or higher gsm mf towels.

I'm lucky.

Hubby has car OCD and usually prefers to wash it before I get to it.

We are the perfect couple: I have fun getting them dirty. He has fun getting them clean. He also takes them to detailer usually once per quarter for wash/wax. Sometimes we clay bar. Sometimes detailer does it.

Seriously I'd rather drive but we use C R Spotless water system which makes a huge difference. Foam cannon. 2 buckets with grit guard. Master blaster blow dryer. Wheels off sometimes - not every time.

Gray GT4 is Opticoated over everything including xpel. We did only face of wheels since we weren't sure if Opticoat on barrels would hold up to track heat and didn't want to chance wheel weights not adhering. If Opticoat makes life easier it'll go on the other cars including entire wheel on street cars.

Also luv this product for removing heavy bug coating:
1Z Einzett Anti Insekt bug remover. It requires rinsing with water. Works great!

Make sure you get the CR Spotless unit.

I can't recommend it enough.

2-3 hours? if ur detailer does it that fast. it's not a detail. try 2-3 days. and i move faster than most human beings. ask spyerX.

i do send it to detailers b/n my own details. most pros are simply not as good as i

How about suggestions for hard water that don't include buying the CR spotless. Is it possible to have a water spot free wash without the CR spotless?

My problem is that I don't have shade in my front yard so the water dries quickly. Then I get those white water spots. Luckily the GT4 is white but it drives me nuts getting spots on the glass and mirrors.

Any tips?

^ keep it wet
hose car
soap
wipe
hose car with hard water again
park in garage, move fast and dry it.
you dont have to dry fully
partial dry. use soft but LARGE towel.
RUN around the car. two runs 2 min, you should have it 75% dry.
apply detailer, and then fully dry in the garage.
if you have no garage no shade, the MOVE FASTER
after detailer and fully dried, you can then address bigger issues if any.
if you need more detailing than that, you need indoor work space, no way around it.

Distilled White Vinegar but I only used it on glass and can say its perfect for glass
If you have a PPF it should be no problem but you would not leave it on in any case just wipe it on and wipe it off and rinse with water right away
I think its paint safe if used as described above but let someone else chime in
And honestly,,, wait until the sun moves. ITS SO SO bad to do any of that in the sun Maybe early morning also before it gets up there

GET DI water.

I washed GT3 the other day.

Put car on lift.
Removed wheels.
Brand new microfiber towerls + solution and cleaned all bottom of car.
Removed undertrays.
Cleaned bottom.
Cleaned bottom of engine.
Cleaned inside of wheels wells.
Cleaned wheels off car.
Cleaned lug bolts.
Cleaned and wax calipers.

- that itself took about 3.5 hours.

Then regular shower for body.
Then regular cleaning stuff for inside cabin.

about 7 hours total.

That is not including a "detail" for body of buff/ polish /coats of wax yada yada.

My mate sent me a photo last night of a very clean GT4 ready to drive out to Rennsport in Sydney tomorrow. I'm still much happier with my cleaning method than what is being described here.

This is why I like waterless. I can clean it in the garage. You can also use distilled water for the mix very easily (or use a spray bottle premix for light jobs). I've become a believer.
