Every mod I did to my 2005 M3 had to be with a part that was lighter than what was original, or if heavier provide a substantial improvement gain over stock. With the boat anchor 55lb stock muffler the car weighs ~3280 with no driver and just over half a tank of gas, and it still has a full interior and all the creature comforts. An after market exhaust would easily shave another 25lb off that if I so choose. Glad I'm not the only one that is manic about having a really light car.

I'm expecting (hoping) that it's under 3100 but I'll be throwing it on scales shortly after getting it and will check with a full tank of gas and no driver. From there I'll measure any new part going on with the old part coming off and will keep track of the car's weight as I go along. I'm not expecting to swap much though (headers, plenum, a few minor suspension parts, and maybe a battery).

See post 5. The 24lbs saving is relative to the 2-ways IIRC. Don't have the weight for 22-way (those are the offered seats on the GT4, not 16-way), but ppl seem to casually refer to 40lbs extra atop the LWBSs. That would imply 16 extra lbs over the 2-way, which may be a bit much but over 2 seats that's 8lbs per seat, which is i guess plausible.

I think we should start worrying about how much the actual car weighs when we all become as fit (or gaunt) as Victoria Secret models ourselves

just sayin'

I'd settle for scaled GT4's.

Everyone has corner balanced numbers, no?

When we start the GT4 DE CUP, well lead the little skinny ones up to meet spec weight to a fair for me 3300lbs..

Just got the car back from weigh in:

Corner weights:
721 757
935 871

Total = 3284 lbs with 200lbs in the driver's seat and 7/8 tank of gas. Car has extended fuel tank, LWBs, PCCBs, PCM, leather, fire extinguisher, and PDLS.

Nice.

Figure throw on a Lithium battery and that is down another 25 lbs and with a 1/2 tank of gas so may be thinking 3040???

There are only two cars that have:

LWB's, Radio AND AC delete, PCCB's and Lith Battery. One is the Nato Olive car and the other one is not associated with anyone on RL.

CJ's car is not AC delete so the Nato Olive would be a lighter car.

Although he has full leather and the unknown owner has partial.

All of the above cars were ordered with ext tank so that is not a factor but I don't think it would make much difference.

Totally. Throw out the fire extinguisher, car cover, rubber trunk liners, and 10lbs of detailing sprays and mf towels it's probably a couple that sounds totally reasonable.

Heck, there's probably 10lbs of xpel and tint on there

Had my car corner balanced on Saturday.
Here are the measurements with me in it, and 10 gals of gas.
The car by itself (not me) was 3012lbs.

LF: 720, RF: 720
LR: 901, RR: 873

Total weight 3220, but great diagonal balance of 1593, 1621.

Spec list: 18-way seats, steel brakes.

To clarify - is 3012 lbs is with/with out 10 gals of gas? Sounds too light to be with gas. Even with out gas, sounds to be on the lighter side for a car with steels and 18 way.

That's the weight with 10 gl gas. It has no other options, but I can't imagine the options do anything but add to the weight. Still, unless things weigh less at 5000ft elevation, that's what it weighs...

Congrats, even ignoring with the miniscule effect of 5000ft on g (~.05%), you have an extraordinarly light car - empty weight, without the 10 gallons of gas should be 2952 lbs!!

For comparison, empty weights (with no gas/driver) of other cars posted in this thread along with the non-standard options I could glean from the posts:

2998.6 lbs (Ext tank, LWBS. Post #4 - Yargk)
3028.6 lbs (Ext tank, LWBS, PDLS, Fire extinguisher. Post #6 - Eric5280)
3032 lbs (Ext tank. Post#10 - 4 Carl)
2992 lbs (Ext tank, LWBS, Leather. Post #14 - GrantG)
3015.6 lbs. (Ext tank, Other options? Post #20 - Accel Junky)
2995 lbs (Ext tank, PCCB, LWBS, PCM, Leather, Fire extinguisher, PDLS. Post #36 - ajw45)

I'm pretty confident the scales were reasonably accurate. I weigh 205lbs and the scales had my weight at 208lbs. So based on that they over-read by 3lbs. But even if that's an estimate of the error, it's +/- 5 or 10lbs, not 50 or 100.
