I feel like you are subtly calling me out as there were not too many passengers on that drive Let's just say my son "might" have taken a bunch of video with a phone. The quality is not bad but it needs to be edited down and video is even more work than photos. After I have a final product, I will decide if it should be made public. Maybe I will bring my GoPro next time and mount it properly with an external mic.

As for future meets and roller shots, I fully expect my son's skills to improve quickly. Unfortunately I forgot my camera battery last weekend. Let's not forget they he did a decent job on his first attempt a few weeks ago:

I stayed away from you because I could see the steam coming out of your ears. I have nightmares about doing that same thing before any big photo event!

I hear you about the video aspect. I could never get into it because of the time needed to edit and process. My brain just wasn't wired to create content of that nature for whatever reason.

Funny, we were having this conversation during "breaks" on this drive... When in sport mode, with the exhaust open, it is LOUD, especially when "on it"
Also sport mode has the snap-crackle-pop on overrun, with the exhaust bypass on

A big 10 shot panorama that has been downsized to 10,000 pixels wide. If you have a 4K display, this would be perfect to show it on!

Amazing photos, beautiful weather, and an incredible lineup of cars - What a day, thanks for sharing! May I ask what your camera setup is, and perhaps post-processing method? Tack sharp and really clean images - Keep it up!

Thank you!

Gear list for this specific shoot:

Nikon D800E
Nikon 85mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8, and 16-35mm f/4 zoom
Gitzo tripod, Arca Swiss Z1 bullhead with a nodal rail system used on the pano. I normally use this for skyline and architecture shots but it did double duty that day.
Lightroom 5 for post processing

Sure thing, you've got some real camera skills! I've got the automotive photography bug as well Definitely a great setup there, thanks for the info and keep the photos coming!

Nice. I shoot with a d800, usually with a 24-70 f/2.8 that may as well be a bag of primes. Can't wait to take some shots when my car comes in late March.

I was holding off on the 24-70 waiting for the new one but then I got sticker and size shock. I'll work with the basic 50 f/1.8 for now and borrow a friend's 24-70 if I really need it.

I think I'm going to get the new 200-500 next year for airshows to augment my 80-200 f/2.8 and 300 f/4 (from 1994!).

Yup, I'm a gear head!

Nice glass! I have the older 24-70. The new one is nice, but, like you said, very expensive and huge. The old one is big enough as it is. I also used to have an 85 1.4, but it was the D version. That was both the best and worst lens I've ever owned. It is capable of producing magic, but between the CA and razor thin DOF/antiquated AF - a nightmare to shoot.

Your pics are very helpful, btw. Some of these colors are just too difficult to accurately capture without a true high dynamic range sensor and proper color processing. Carmine and Guards, in particular, are very tough in bright sunshine -- very easy to blow out highlights and oversaturate.
