Don't worry your GT4 is just being facetious and doing its best Z06 impression

Not much of a diagnosis. Actually, it's a little confusing: before I picked it up, the service consultant emailed me saying that they had found a bad connection. However, when I was there in person, he said that they hadn't actually found a problem but hoped that by checking all the relevant wiring that the problem would be fixed. It wasn't and the car is still at the dealer and they have Porsche involved.

Sigh...

Makes you wonder whats the point of even having an error message at times. I would think that depending on the code generated, there would be certain conditions and the service manual would have procedures in place to check and isolate the fault.

Unplugging and plugging things back in hoping it will go away sounds insane!

Hope this gets resolved, and crossing fingers it is relatively minor overall.

Yes and no. The plugging/unplugging is a way to find pushed back pins/sockets in connectors as long as the tester checks the seating of the pins/sockets while apart. You'd be surprised of the faults created by this scenario and the difficulty in finding those.

Works for supercomputers, hopefully, it also works for Porsches.

Sadly not this time. Hopefully the dealer will get some guidance from Porsche tomorrow. I think they are hesitant to go poking around too much on a model of car they've probably never serviced before.

Well, my GT4 is still at the dealer:

They are still waiting to hear from Porsche but have ordered some replacement parts. Seems like they think the thermostat is the main suspect.

I'm definitely disappointed that Porsche hasn't got back to the dealer yet - it's been several days - but the dealer (Carlsen) has been great. I've been very impressed with everyone there. At my request, they switched my loaner Cayenne for a 911, which was nice. Two thumbs up for Carlsen; two thumbs down for Porsche NA.

It's a bummer not to have the car but I'm looking on the bright side: getting it back will be like getting it new all over again! As well, the ramps I ordered so I can actually get the GT4 into my garage should be arriving tomorrow. And, ultimately, being bummed about not having my fancy sports car right now is the first-est of first world problems...

Sounds like you haven't worked on enough Porsches! Odd things happen, even weird things fixes problems.

You'd think they could do a better job color matching the lift arms with the car.

Hope it all is resolved soon and to your full satisfaction.

Ha! I hadn't even noticed. They had some cool cars in the service bay, including several Carrera GTs.

Looks so racecar Are there any actually downsides of leaving the cover to the engine off? Dying of carbon monoxide poisoning?

Well, the thermostat has been replaced today, as Porsche finally got back to the dealer and said that was the right approach. Seems the mechanics have to then wait overnight for...well, I'm not exactly sure; something that involves a fluid level to settle.

If that doesn't work, then they are going to replace a temperature sensor. Might get the car back tomorrow but not feeling very confident; sigh...
