Haha, yeah... The roads were completely moisture/ice free and only the little entrance to the ski resort where I stopped had any amount of snow on the road, maybe 50 yards worth.

You'd be surprised. I was driving in a different state (in Australia) and took a 'scenic' route (not expecting any ice) and ended up driving up a mountain and down the other side with ice up to 1.5 - 2 inches thick on the cup 2s. After the 'oh ****' moment I just took it slowly and apart from one minor loss of traction the car was fine. Car thermometer read -3 degrees Celsius at the coldest point. Stupid mistake which I won't repeat but good to know the tyres do retain some grip at that temp and on that surface.
