So, what's the point of obscuring the license plate? Can it be stolen via a photo? If it's a privacy thing, why are you posting photos of your car on a WWW forum? I'm not trolling here, I really want to understand why people blur, or wipe out their plate numbers, which are clearly public information since anyone can walk past your car and photograph your plate with their cell phone, while publishing a photo of your car which suggests you want as many people as possible to look at it?

I never got it, but what people tell me is the following: in some countries you can draw conclusions on where (in which county!!) someone lives, plus insurance might not like people tracking their car, ...
I don't mind posting my full license plate and did so before.

Plus haven't you seen this movie on Lifetime? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_Rage_(film)

Plus since you are so upfront with your identity, you've must have lived a righteous, upstanding life - a pillar of excellence - and don't have nearly the amount of enemies I have

A license number can be used to look up the owner's name and address of registration. That could lead someone to where the car is parked at night and theft, or vandalism, or fanboy photograph sessions.
Posting this information on the WWW exposes the car to many more people than just who walks by the car on the street.
I completely understand why someone would choose to not make the address and name of the car's owner a public announcement on the WWW.
But hey, I'm a weirdo.
