yes I had portable detector on my windshield at the time (I had just picked up my car). Didn't do me much good with my windows down, exhaust singing and a corner approaching... Officer obviously used instant-on radar from his bike while approaching me from the opposite direction.

I will have at passport radar/laser jammer fully installed soon (as I have my X6M). But honestly I am not a heavy "speeder." I just like to know when I'm being watched. Going 72 on the PCH is nothing. I'm really surprised the officer gave me a ticket. Lame.

I'm about to say some illegal ****.... That I have never done before and don't intend to, but it works.

Get yourself a license from another state, submit that to your insurance, never ever use it, just put it in a cupboard. Then if by mistake you get an occasional speeding ticket on your in-state license, your insurance won't go up. This won't stop you from accumulating too many points and getting your license pulled, it just allows your insurance premiums to stay nice and clean.

Again, I've never done this and I don't want to hear any morally pretentious preaching. Peace out.

Also.. Radar/laser detectors don't work, WAZE does a little. Waste of money IMO.

I lived in Malibu for over 10 years and know those bike cops all too well. There are only a couple of them I saw all the time and they're kind of dicks. They're all about collecting money and don't seem to care that much about safety since they usually sit at the bottom of hills. I actually never got a ticket from one since I knew where they always sat, but I've seen too many people who weren't doing anything dangerous get pulled over.

Granted, PCH through the main part of Malibu is the most dangerous stretch of highway in all of California and there have been a lot of fatal accidents, but once you get north of Pt Dume it's wide open with huge shoulders, little traffic, and long line of site so ticketing someone for going 72 there is bull****.
