Online apps? worth getting? You wonder if Porsche will add functionality like BMW apps

I have a few more dollars freed up for options.

Added recently after seeing if I could live without on my current daily car.
-light design
- dimming mirrors/rain sensors

Debating still
- GT silver (currently white)
- PCM/Nav
- climate control

I can live with "white" car.

the Nav is the hardest thing as I still cannot get a straight answer on changing decks. Don't need Nav but want audio streaming or the USB port. Suncoast has the bracket but no plug and play adapters yet. Do not want electrical issues nor error codes.

Climate control seems unnecessary. Max A/C until cooled and then low fan speeds is my usual preference.

Look at the 1M as an example; those without nav seem to be more highly sought after as the car doesn't date itself as bad as one with navigation that is years old.
As was already mentioned, nav in the 1M dramatically changed the look of the dash. On this car the design doesn't really change, and since PCM and CDR+ use the exact same hardware, your choices are either an even crappier head unit with low resolution in CDR, or the better head unit with CDR+/PCM and then just not looking at nav once you feel it's too dated, but at least you still have the other functionality like Bluetooth streaming, and no roof wart with PCM. Unless of course you go radio delete, but then you have a gaping cubby in your expensive car's cabin that makes it look like you got robbed or are too poor/cheap to have a radio in your Porsche.

And of course there's always aftermarket, which again would likely be easier if you didn't start with radio delete.

I don't know that Online Services offers the same capabilities as a platform that BMW Apps does, but even that didn't take off except for the admittedly cool M Laptimer app. Otherwise, it's just a handful of things like Pandora, MOG, and Glympse. I never used any of them past briefly playing with them when I first got the car because they require the phone to be connected via USB, and with Bluetooth audio streaming I seldom do that -- and as a result, whenever I actually do, I inevitably leave my phone in my glovebox when I leave the car.

Light Design seems to be mood lighting, and the GT3 guys say they can't even really tell what they got over standard. I originally added it because I appreciate nice lighting, and now I'm forced to keep it because I decided I couldn't deal with the vinyl sun visors against that beautiful Alcantara roof, and Alcantara visors require Light Design. Note that without Light Design, you do not get any lighting at all around the mirrors in the sun visors, if you have a wife/GF that would be pissed about that.

I got climate control for the set it and forget it convenience, but you obviously already understand the ramifications of not going with it.

I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on the Pedals and Footrest in Aluminum. Is it just a cosmetic feature or does it materially improve pedal feel or placement for heel-toe downshifting? I'd pass on it if it's just cosmetic, but if there is a performance aspect to consider then I'd probably check that box.

Those are cosmetic and even that is questionable since IMHO they look cheap. If you have trouble heal toeing cause of the difference in the pedal heights, Rennline has a few adjustable pedals. I have it on my GT3, helped a lot. And they look better too.

I'd say sport chrono and PCM are equally useless of the useless options for the gt4. In my opinion Sport chrono is a must have on non gt models with pdk; when it adds dynamic mounts and more aggressive ecu tuning. Otherwise, I've never used the clock as a stop watch and I don't really think it looks any better with or without the clock in the dash.

I checked the pedal box simply based on feel of them with driving shoes. It was "smoother". I have no idea if foot gription values change by adding this feature but I thought I would give it a shot. Agree that the Rennline options are more configurable and probably better for personalization once you determine whats what for your feet and seating position in the car. We will have to see.

I've got aluminium pedals on my current car and if I was keeping it I'd be changing them to rubber. Pretty much any of my 'street' driving shoes have a thin rubber sole with minimal tread (eg Puma speedcats) so when it rains and the soles get wet they are very slippery on the pedals, especially heel toeing. This isn't a problem when you're at the track as you can either put plastic bags over your boots or just leave them in the car when it rains but these options aren't practical for street driving. To me aluminium pedals are there to look all racecar but functionally are worse than the rubber alternatives.
