If I'm reading it right it seem like it was faster than a 991 Turbo S, GT-R Track Pack, C7 Stingray, 997 GT3 RS and by a long mile R8 V10 Plus, Lambo LP570-4 etc and very close to a 458 Italia... Impressive, to say the least.
Straight line the car does seem a bit slow. In line with Porsche's claims (.1 seconds slower to 100 and 200 kph), but again slower than you'd expect a GT car of this spec to be. The 996.2 GT3, for example, was a claimed .3 seconds faster to 200 and generally tested faster still, despite having the same rated power and weighing nearly 100 lbs more. In this light the GT4 doesn't seem as under-rated as usual.
The lap time, on the other hand, does seem impressive, largely because it's a very tight track that plays to the GT4's strengths.
Both of these make me wonder how quick the car would have been with proper gearing and the powerkit engine as the starting point... Could have been an autocross or tight circuit monster.

I think we were all anticipating it being a fun car to take to the circuit. But, reading this and watching Nur93 videos blowing past 997 GT3s at NBR is really surprising to me. Pleasantly surprised, and thinking that it is the real deal with the only limitation being the driver's skill - in my case, still improving.

Yes, it's a great result to be able to run with the 4.0 for half the money (when new, 1/4 now) and 115hp deficit. Tires are a bit better now, but still surprisingly quick. My track is technical and tight and I think the GT4 will be a nice match.
this track is the short school track of Magny-Cours and not the F1 track.
The cayman GT4 is much in its playground than the GT3, especially any RS whose bodies will be more confortable on long tracks, with rapid curves.
But, the results are still impressive i agree with you. Especially considering a manual box, and a power to weight ratio not really in the top range compared to the other cars in the rankings... The Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires are near by slicks though, and must give the GT4 the means to give all of its potential on a track.
all in all, it is fast for sure, but i'll retain more its power to make its driver happy! i'm sure this car must be more of a 911 racer than the actual GT3 production. I want to test it! but i'm pretty sure i'd like one afterward... i'll tet it anyway!
