I honestly this could be a age (generation related) thing?
My son (17) thinks I am crazy not to get black wheels ....
I am an old fart who likes lighter color wheels but those Platinum wheels blend nice with the dark trim on a white car.. The silver looks very nice also but seeing these on a configurator doesn't do justice to how they will really look .... Black is out for me, so its Sliver or Platinum...???
This is really the only option decision I am having trouble with....
LWBS were, and I decided to go with them, and then .... Well as we all know it didn't matter, as they are not available

It may indeed be a generational thing, but I'm 29 and don't like black wheels on regular cars. Maybe I just have an older soul. Honestly I would say definitely go with silver if you have a darker paint color. If you go with a lighter color, you could go either way.

I'm definitely going with black wing supports though. For a while I thought that the silver supports would go well with silver wheels (even though I knew the different finishes would preclude an exact match), but on the flip side I liked that the black rear supports would match well with the black front headlamps, so that you'd have black accessories in the bodywork and silver accessories (wheels) under it. Looking at GT4 photos, almost every single one had black supports, which told me something right off the bat. When I finally did find a GT4 with silver supports, it was a silver car, but even then, the supports just jump out at you and pull focus from the entire rest of the car. The size, positioning, and zig-zag design just shout at you. I'm already not crazy about that large a wing on a DD, and I decided I definitely didn't want the wing's support hardware to be all shiny, particularly on a dark paint color. I did worry for a while that black supports might convey the same younger generation "racecar" look that leads people to black wheels and was worried about a clash with the silver wheels, but having looked at photos including the one just above in this thread, I realize that the black finish makes the supports more invisible, so you end up being able to focus on the car and the actual wing itself rather than fixating on all of that hardware hanging off of your hatch.

Well this car is going to be White with black wing supports .... So I am leaning toward the platinum wheels .... I just hope they are not to matte and rather, have somewhat of a shine to them? They seem to be like a pewter or gun metal ?
I agree if it were a dark car, Silver would be my choice !!
Thanks
Best regards

If I were doing a white car, that's exactly how I'd spec it -- although if there were ever an argument for black wheels, a white GT car that would see a lot of track time would definitely be it, so I can certainly relate to your son. Anyhow, it's a little tricky to tell from the photos, but the black wing supports don't look like black hole level of black or a super shiny given that in some photos taken on bright days from certain angles, the black supports can almost look silver. That said, I don't think they're going to have a matte, rough, powdercoated look either -- perhaps a sort of semigloss black appearance. I just know that I'm happy with how the photos look, much happier than the few silver support photos I've seen.
