GT4RS

If they want to upsize the tires any more, they would practically have to. The GT4's tires are already flush with the fenders. But that is definitely an issue -- the GT3 and GT3RS both use bodies that Porsche already has for other 911 models, whereas there isn't currently a wider Cayman body. So that either means Porsche is less likely to do it, or the RS will command a hefty premium.

Just replying to this response although several replied a GT4RS won't outperform the base GT3.
The 911 marque argument aside; why would it not?
On a 2 minute circuit, both on MPSC2 tires, the 991 GT3 was 3.5s quicker than a GT4. 3% margin. An isolated example, that I will continue with...
If a GT4RS has some combination of power bump, better aero / DF, better gearing, diet.... I expect it to close the 3% gap to a point where it's completely negligible. Perhaps on Porsche paper it won't.

I agree that the margin between the 991 GT3 and Cayman will lessen with the RS, but 3.5 seconds quicker around a course is a LOT. If Porsche built a Cayman that outperformed a more expensive, one off engine'd 911, it would be a huge marketing issue.
Too bad we can't get the 991 GT3 engine in the Cayman.

We can all hope for this but the hierarchy gmhas clearly been established. Gt3rs, gt3, gt4rs(if made) gt4. This will never change. Unless you go aftermarket, you pick the model and pay accordingly for its performance. The gt4 seems like a good bargain against the others and their prices but Porsche will always keep things in line. Their survival depends upon it. If a gt4rs is made you can bet your life it will not outperform a gt3. It may get close to the current gt3 but by then the next gt3 will be even better than the current one.

I mean, it's still a bummer, but I just don't think that the car has the same issues as the Z06, for example. If you want to bring them both down to H2R sometime soon and compare temps during a session, drop me a line.

Honestly I think that's an aberration with your car I did the same thing you did - but with a '15 TA 1.0, and it's been rock solid running multiple laps at COTA as well as some pretty intense laps at Harris Hill.

I have a million laps at HHR and its apples and oranges to COTA. I am not the only one. I have connected with other owners who drive fast and they overheat…exact same temps. (The Arrow ECU gets hotter 2 laps faster.) I talked to the aero engineer and SRT and the engine ECU author at Arrow. It’s a known problem when racing the car. I won't post details and I want even go this far on the Viper forums! Are you running in the 2:20s COTA? I drop to the low 2:30s and its fine.
