Allocations?
I really don't think any more 981 GT4 allocations are coming. For those that don't have one I would definitely start searching out of state.
That being said, with the GT4 success I can't imagine them shelving the model. They are literally printing money with this car. And with the new 718 refresh coming I don't see why they wouldn't do a GT4.2 and compel buyers to update.

It's unfortunate they won't be making a lot more. I really would've loved to see people " crying and bitching " that they are losing so much money. Nobody would have been able to explain at C&C that they own a limited race car anymore.
Not to mention bubble wrappers,I can't stand bubble wrappers!

I think the stock market significant decline is affecting availability of allocation. probably some people are backing off their allocation because of financial reason. It seems every time I am at a dealer, and I do that on weekends as i love cars and flip them frequently so i am always checking out what is new, I hear a story that a guy ordered this car but backed out when car arrived. This is how i had the chance of driving a spader recently as the guy backed out when the car came in.
on a side note, and i am by no means defending dealers, sometimes they get stuck with a number of cars that people order with unusual combinations that they have to take a big hit when they sell them

Congrats - did you ask him if this was a new allocation that Porsche gifted them?? This would be interesting to know because I am wondering, as you conveyed above, if there may be some cancellations or Dealers finally not holding some allocations back due to a lot of fear this market may be causing and they would prefer to take a bird in the hand.
I didn't directly ask, but he sort of vaguely made it sound like Porsche gifted them a new allocation (June/July build timeframe, if that is of any relevance).
If it was the latter though (dealer letting an extra allocation go), I have a feeling he wouldn't tell me, heh.
there is no doubt the decline in the stock market has eliminated some disposable income out there and will result in freeing up some allocations..
who knows, i don't think it matters whether its old or new allocations..just find one if you want one! all thats happening is proving the point they always come up!
unlike RS allocations..

I have a question that is just loosely related to this thread, but I don't think it's worth creating another thread -- my sales guy told me that the allocation was for a July/June build time frame. Do you guys know when that means I should expect to take delivery? My guess was by the end of the year based on what I thought I had seen here, but he says I should have it by around September.

If you're in the US, figure 8 weeks from start of production to sitting on dealer lot, give or take a week. What did you read that suggested you could be waiting several months? The only people who've ended up in that predicament are customers whose build date was pushed back for whatever reason (e.g. LWB or PTS issues), but once your car actually enters production, it's a pretty straightforward calendar from that point on, the only variances being the precise departure dates of the boats that ferry them across the Atlantic, how busy the port inspection and repair facility on this side is (and what if anything your car needs done to it there), and how long it takes for your car to get from the port to your dealer by truck.
Hmm... strange. This whole situation seems odd to me, and I still kind of feel like it's too good to be true. I hope I don't get a call from him tomorrow like "lol, jk bro, no hard feelings".

So I just talked to my sales guy again and asked how they got their new allocation for me. He said that Porsche just gave them a new allocation. He doesn't know the whole story, but he says being a premier dealership, they get some perks, so it's possible they just got an allocation from another dealer who couldn't sell it, or Porsche just had a bit more inventory than they thought... He says he can't know for sure, but could ask if I really wanted to know. (I told him not to worry about it, I was just curious.)
Ah, good to know. But yeah, also wonder if that means more allocations in general? Have they even hit that 2500 number we heard about yet?
