Amazing news, my dealer called and said they have a car for me that's in V200 status, but still changeable. Hopped on it and they are saying September delivery.

Rock on. Congrats!

(V200 is still changeable, indeed.)

Definitely wasn't expecting to get a car so soon. Apparently these was an allocation given as a reward for meeting some sales incentive threshold.

Only bad thing is he says I cannot order buckets. I know for many people that is a total deal breaker, but I plan to use this car substantially on the street, so it's not bugging me too much.

Thanks. I just don't feel so good about it all. Don't want to end up passing on a local allocation only to find out they sell the car out from under me or something. Maybe I am paranoid lol. My feelings exacerbated of course by the sudden drop off in communication with dealership once I signed the papers.

I don't think there is much to communicate for now. I wouldn't worry too much. You can always email or call your sales person every few weeks as well.

My order is confirmed with my build. I also have a change order placed in case the sport buckets become available during the build. V210 status - my build is locked in. The whole deposit was submitted today - anticipating a late September delivery...

What number were you on your dealership's list?

Need help with this question:

If you placed your GT4 deposit in the first half of March and received the following message from your Porsche dealer multiple times plus the SA telling you to get your final specs ready would think you have an allocation?

"We are still awaiting a month of production from the factory for your new Porsche Cayman GT4 and will update you"

How would you react if the dealer told you 2 months later that there was never a car to back up the "month of production"?

IMHO based on what you posted the dealer is not doing anything wrong. The way the system works is that dealers have to enter a configuration to get a demand order in the system (V070). This communicates to Porsche how much demand there is so they can plan allocations. A dealer needs an allocation (V200) to take a real order to configure an actual car from you. "We are still awaiting a month of production from the factory" simply means "We are still awaiting an allocation". The reality is there may never be an allocation available for you. It all depends on your position in line, the ethics of the dealer, the final production volume by Porsche, and the actual allocation that you dealer receives through whatever protocol/game PCNA dreams up month to month...

Thanks for your answer. In the end it is about communication and managing expectations and I think it is the responsibility of the dealer to explain things from the very start of the process so that their is no room for false expectations later on down the line. It is quite straight forward to use the term "allocation" but it becomes quite ambiguous to use the term "month of production" unless it is explained within a specific context as you have. Thus I had no reason to think I was not getting a car especially when told to get my specs finalized by my SA.

I finally got my sales guy to text me a picture of the order screens for an update. I'm showing V210 now (locked) and the delivery date has advanced to 9/4 from the original 9/18 I was told. Granted that is exactly 2 weeks difference so I have to wonder if the 9/18 I was originally told included some sort of buffer. My baby boy is due Sept 12...picking the car up a few states away is going to get interesting with that timing... My hope is that the delivery date gets pushed up even more due to all of the LWB delays so that I can comfortably retrieve the car without worrying about my wife needing to go to the hospital while I'm flying/driving.

Congrats.

You can also ask them for a Build Sheet in PDF format to be emailed to you. It'll show your status, commish #, VIN, full build spec, customer name/address, everything.

Thanks. It was like pulling teeth just to get this (maybe they are really busy making sales this past week??). I suggested that he could text a screenshot to me (to make it easier).

I have the original build sheet PDF from when I first signed papers. It was V200 at the time with my name, address and commission number of course. This time around I was just hoping to see if there was a status change (partially because I had a feeling it would move forward to an earlier production or arrival date which would be helpful for me).

I really don't know why Porsche does not have a tracking system like BMW. BMW has had theirs in place since at least 2008 when I ordered a 335i for ED. I ordered his/hers F80 M3s for ED last year and we were able to see everything we needed online. Surely it isn't too much to ask for some portal that would allow you to enter a commission number and spit out a pretty basic status update.

I actually emailed PCNA customer service and not only did it take 5 days to get a reply but it was a worthless reply telling me to ask my dealer (despite telling them that I wasn't able to get that information).

Maybe if I can get hired at PCNA (I've been trying) I can make some waves...
