OT: Cayman GT4

On par? No, not for me.
I'd rather have this than the C7 Z06, in whatever guise, Z07 pkg, full carbon etc. Even if GM sorts our the supercharger and overheating issues with the Z06, the Cayman GT4 just hits all the right buttons for me.

"there was a call for it (manual transmission) from all over the world....there are a lot of customers that don't care about the last tenth. It's about being involved, it's about emotion, it's about a car that talks to you..."
Classic AP.

Definitely looks like sapphire blue to me. Would love it if they came out with an exclusive color for this car but doubtful. Hopefully pts is up and running this summer again.

I was really excited when the GT4 was announced. I confess having read the launch piece I'm no longer as excited. I thought this would be an ideal car to sit alongside my 991 GT3 for spirited Back Road road drives and occasional track sortes. Thing is with the wheels. Mirrors, front bumper and brakes already looking or being exactly as they are on the 991 GT3 I'm a bit deflated. My wife thought the pictures were just a scaled down GT3! I just went through the exercise of buying replacement brake discs, pads and tired for my 991 GT3. Do you realise a set of 4 x OEM rotors is $2500 usd! Tyres were $2500 usd for MPSC2 & pads Round $600 the set.., This is going to be z very expensive Cayman to own and track given all of the consumables are basically GT3 priced! Sure it's not quite as heavy but it has a MT and mech diff which over time will add maintenance costs to heavily tracked examples. I was hoping for unique wheels. Love the idea of the MT but in reality still really enjoying PDK-s and if I had both in garage not sure if grab the GT4 keys any more often than I currently grab the 993 keys. Thing is its not a 911 and it's slower at the track do if I were choosing between a loaded GT4 at 100k and GT3 at 150k given they cost the same to run on the track Id go the GT3 I think....
